Simple question.

To me the answer is an obvious yes, it just seems so unlikely that there wouldn't be life.

Also, a mistake often made is that we tend to define life out of what this planet can offer. Well, who says that life has to be carbon-based?

Thoughts?

Note: I'm not asking if aliens have visited earth, I'm simply asking if you believe life exists out there.

yes. I was just thinking about that the other day. We tend to base everything on what we can relate to and comprehend, and then when thinking about aliens, we think of well, just some shit that pops in our brains. I agree with what you said that it is highly unlikely that with that much open space and all the stuff we don't know, that anyone can rule out that life doesnt exist out on one of those other planets, or anywhere. I think about space sometimes and it trips me out. its just so big, we cant even comprehend how big it is

yes, definitely. whether it be bacteria or advanced beings life is life shit speaking scientifically life on earth came about out of chance and with the amount of solar systems and galaxies out there we can't be the only life and to speak religiously why in the fuckk would "god" create so many damn galaxies for no apparent reason when humans are "special" unless dude's a scientist creating galaxies as test tubes to see if he can create life out of different combo's of stars and planets and such and such

^^haha, exactly.

I agree. I'm usually disappointed in alien movies because they tend to always have a head, two eyes, arms and legs, just like what we have here. But I'd imagine they'd look completely different from anything we've seen. And for some inspiration, look no further than our own oceans; there are some bizarre ass creatures in there.

something I found kind of interesting regarding extraterrestrial life (until the end when it gets a little too much into the Bible for my liking, but interesting nonetheless):
pretty long...
(and yes, I think that it is very narrow minded to think that there could not be life anywhere else)

that there is life on other planets seems to be almost like a prerequisite for life on Earth to exists, if Earth was the only planet to develop life, then life is a very improbable event given the size of the universe.....

Not necessary

It is true that morphology is largely dependent on both luck (what mutations arose and when) and local conditions, however, if we accept that life as wee know it can develop to intelligence level comparable to ours only on planets similar to ours, there is a good chance that similar morphologies will arise

The thing is that to develop civilization, you need the ability to perform precise manipulations with your hands. Analogous level of precision could only be achieved by insect-like and cephalopod-like creatures (of the body plans we are familiar with) but it will be much harder for any of these to replicate the human hand. On the other side, this is linked to the evolution of the brain. So this is a major constrain that immediately appears and there are many others, so it is likely that it will be either some truly weird life form or something similar to us

BTW this all relates to the old debate about determinism in evolution, i.e whether if we replay the tape of evolution, the result will be the same

Of course.. there are advanced beings out there....

those advanced beings.. are what we call GODS.. in the bible....
and also demons...

Aliens... are the demons.. and angels.. people speak of...
Right..You maybe ever think that the aliens the media have been marketing to us, are really humans that have been genetically mutated and flying saucers is really a secret technology being mastered. Maybe that's just me? To answer your question I do believe in life outside of earth on a biblical and scientific way. Now how many of you believe their is life in the center of the earth?

Perfect example of basing aliens on what we realte to. Morphology aside, Maybe an alien might have the mind power to move something, or perhaps they dont need to move anything at all because their environment is so. There are end less possibilities, i think it is just crazy to keep the posibilities going, its a trip. Maybe they arent carbon based at all. Maybe they are made out of some crazy ass life force. It keeps going, and like i said earlier, we base things on which we can relate, so everything i suggest is based on what i can relate to, or imagine as a human, which leaves endless possibilities for what life on other planets or in space might actually be like....
