digital SLR's?

I'm plannin on gettin my girlfriend a digital slr camera, i just dont really know shit about them haha.

its her thing, shes worked with them before, just cant afford to get her own.

im wondering if you guys know of anywhere i can pick up a reasonably inexpensive one

it doesnt need to be top of the line, just a digital slr

the cheaper the better, as long as its not shitty haha. im pretty sure $400 ish is the low end...but thats why im checking here before i spend my money

D40's are beasts. I've had mine for just over 2 years now and it's a trooper.

i'm thinkin of sellin my canon xti....i got a 28-70mm.70-300mm and a 10-20mm but im gonna keep the 10-20mm

D40 and D40x are good for girls because they're smaller than other slr's.

Has anyone ever used those Video recording SLR's? Are they any good, thinking about buying one. If not just buying a regular digital cam and keep my D80.

I got mine nearly brand new, the guy only took it out to try it but already had a D200 he had just gotten too. I snatched it for $360 the whole kit.
