lol I thought this was pretty funny. Got it from sherdog.

RATANACHAI Sor Vorapin had no answer to defending World Boxing Organization Intercontinental (WBO) super bantamweight champion Ramie Laput’s powerful combinations.

Frustrated, he threw his most powerful move—a left roundhouse kick to the head.

In a peculiar turn of events, Sor Vorapin, who did what any boxer shouldn’t do, kicked Laput’s face and sent him to the canvas in the 11th round last Thursday at the Cebu Coliseum. He was disqualified by referee Bruce McTavish and the American Boxing Academy fighter won.

In the first round, it was looking to be an even match up of an up-and-rising fighter and an experienced warrior because both boxers sized each other up and traded jabs.

However, in the second round the heat was turned up a notch as both fighters exchanged heavy blows. Laput acquired a huge gash in his left eyelid and he retaliated in the third round with devastating combinations to the head that cut Sor Vorapin’s left eyebrow and nose bridge.

In the next couple of rounds, Sor Vorapin used dirty tactics—clinching and using his shoulders and elbows as weapons.

Even with the illegal moves by the 32-year-old Thai, Laput kept his cool and continued to box and connect with powerful combos to the body and the head, which frequently staggered Sor Vorapin.

Sor Vorapin was clearly worn out by Laput’s punches, as he slowed down and lowered his hands regularly in the later rounds.

In the 11th round, Sor Vorapin stopped punching and turned to his side as he was hit by an accidental headbutt to his nose.

However, McTavish, who failed to see the collision, didn’t separate the fighters and let them continue to fight.

Capitalizing on the helpless Sor Vorapin, Laput continued to pound the Thai’s head. Apparently frusted, Sor Vorapin hit Laput with a roundhouse kick that grazed his head.

“This is pro boxing. You don’t hit a guy with a kick in the head. The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) will decide on this if he will be banned from fighting in the Philippines or not,” WBO Asia-Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo told Sun.Star Cebu after the unusual fight.

The GAB committee will decide on what penalty will be given to Sor Vorapin.

“He has done something that shouldn’t be done in boxing. He may be banned for six months or a year,” said Angel Bautista, Officer in charge of the GAB.

Norman Wilson, Laput’s coach, said the former Thai world titlist had no answer for his ward’s punches, that’s why he used his kick.

With the victory, Laput improved to 37-3 with 18 knockouts while Sor Vorapin fell to 73-12 with 49 stoppages.
