TUCSON - The ripple effect of possibly losing Amaré Stoudemire for an extended time due to his ongoing left knee troubles muted the Suns' Friday night practice.
"We're going to go on for the moment without him and prepare for the worst but obviously he's a huge part of the team," said Steve Nash, who talked about losing Stoudemire for at least the preseason.
"In an ideal world, if Amaré is only out for a month, it might be good for us to get some of these guys to understand the system and play together and get some minutes and rest Amaré's legs. advertisement
"We're going to have to go battle for a while and really stick together without him."
Shawn Marion said he gets swelling from the knee surgery he had as a rookie. He missed 31 games when doctors removed loose cartilage under his left kneecap.
"Once you get cut, it'll never be the same again regardless of what it is," Marion said.
As for possible power forward assignments again, Marion said, "I might have to play there for a little bit, but I don't want to be there for long."
Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said Stoudemire was dejected Friday after his visit to the specialist caused the medical staff to consider a wide realm of treatments, including surgery.
"He thought it was something that would go away in a day or two and it's not going away and he has to deal with it," D'Antoni said. "He's not happy about the situation."
