Until GGG fights someone remotely good I dont wanna hear jack doe. Got Em!!
Its too bad Felix Sturm, Sergio Martinez, Cotto, David Lemieux, Canelo, Chavez, Froch, N'dam, Quillin all refused a fight with him, and even Dmitry Pirog pulled out due to injury. It's not his fault he hasn't got the big names yet.

Why is he being avoided?
Same boat Bernard Hopkins found himself in at middleweight. Boxing politics kept him from unifying (Don king fighters) just like boxing politics has kept GGG from unifying (Al Haymon). And the top names thought Hopkins was to good to take the risk (like Cotto/Canelo/Martinez for GGG). Hopkins was 36 years old before he got a chance to unify and get his big name fight (against Trinidad). Once he did the big names kept coming. Hopefully ggg gets his big name sooner!

Malignaggi Slams Fans Who Are Critical of PBC Movement

By Carlos Boogs

Former two-division world champion Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi is shocked with some of the critical comments that are flying from fans on the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series.

Manager/adviser Al Haymon, through his company Haymon Boxing, started the PBC series in March on NBC/NBC Sports. Since then, PBC has locked up television deals with Spike TV, Bounce TV, ESPN/ABC, Fox Sports 1 and CBS/Showtime.

This coming Saturday night, PBC will make it's debut on ESPN with Keith Thurman defending the WBA 'regular' welterweight title against the former beltholder Luis Collazo.

Malignaggi will headline next PBC card on ESPN, when he faces undefeated Danny Garcia on August 1st.

He feels fans should appreciate the abundance of boxing on television with PBC staging multiple shows a month across various networks.

"I think it's positive. There is nothing to complain about. Fans are weird. Boxing fans are weird. Would you rather have had ESPN on a nothing budget where you get half-assed fights or would you rather have PBC fights where there is a bigger budget and you put big names against each other. You don't complain about Thurman-Collazo or me against Garcia. Could ESPN have afforded those kinds of fights before? What are you complaining about?," Malignaggi said.

"Would you rather have Friday Night Fights with guys you never heard of? The stupidity of boxing fans really boggles my mind and throws me totally off. Would you rather have no boxing on TV and you watch something else? What are you complaining about? Boxing on Spike or boxing on CBS. It's either that or no boxing."

I disagree with Paulie there because none of those fights he mentioned were on ESPN. Only Thurman vs Collazo which is a terrible fight. PBC has so many outlets right now - NBC, CBS, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, Showtime, Spike and several other channels. All these good fights can take place on all of those channels and ESPN Friday Nights can still exist, every Friday not one Friday a month. Also it wouldn't be limited to Haymon only fighters, it would be open to all managers and promoters. Yeah, the budget was low and it was full of up and comers we may have never heard of but that's the point - Friday Night Fights has always been a place where nobodies become somebody's. How many guys made their names on Friday Night Fights over the years? Tons.

I'd much prefer Friday Night Fights to remain the same and PBC would still have a dozen other channels to showcase their fighters, it's not like PBC needed ESPN.

With that said I'm not gonna cry about it. Boxing is boxing. The only downside is it won't be on as frequently (once a month instead of every week if I remember correctly).

But I still don't understand what Haymon is trying to do with PBC. He has no PPV stars at all and he's only had 2 meaningful fights where his fighters couldn't come through. All I know is that he's stopping us from watching the best fight the best. It's weird to me that anyone can back up PBC.

I like watching free fights, Mr. Haymon is the man.
It was already free on ESPN. That article is just talking about the end of Friday Night Fights and Haymon now having PBC on ESPN. Paulie doesn't understand why people are upset. It's not because Haymon is on ESPN it's because Friday Night Fights is now gone and instead of boxing on every Friday during the season it's going to be once a month. Again it's not a huge blow or anything, just saying PBC already has a ton of outlets it would have been cool if FNF remained intact.

Thurman talks PBC on ESPN, Mayweather
Brian Campbell speaks with Keith Thurman about his July 11 matchup with Luis Collazo on ESPN, wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather and whether he'd be willing to accept a challenge from Errol Spence Jr.

Even before Keith Thurman won a welterweight title and was tabbed by many as a potential boxing star, he was calling out pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Now Thurman has reached a point in his career where there are many who are quite interested in that potential fight.

With Mayweather, coming off his huge win against Manny Pacquiao on May 2, announcing that he will fight on Sept. 12 to complete his Showtime/CBS contract -- but having not announced an opponent yet -- some have speculated that he was waiting to see what happens when Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) faces former welterweight titlist Luis Collazo (36-6, 19 KOs) on Saturday night in the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN (9 ET) at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida -- about 20 minutes from Thurman’s hometown of Clearwater.

But as much as Thurman wants that fight, and as much as many fans would be interested in such a showdown, it’s not in the cards for September, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather’s right-hand man, told ESPN.com.

Thurman-Collazo
Where: USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida
When: Saturday, 9 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN

“Keith Thurman is a very, very good young fighter who is extremely talented, but he doesn’t understand how the game goes,” Ellerbe said on Monday night. “Ain’t nobody (on Team Mayweather) thinking about Keith Thurman.

“He’s a terrific fighter and he’s supposed to call out Floyd Mayweather. He wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t. But everything we want we don’t always get. Everything takes time and patience. He’s entitled to say whatever he wants to.

“He’s a young, hungry fighter. He’s willing to challenge the top fighters out there but there’s a whole pool of young fighters out there. Last I checked (top prospect) Errol Spence called Keith Thurman out. In my opinion Keith Thurman can’t beat Errol Spence.”

Ellerbe said Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs) has not decided yet who he will face -- even though Mayweather has mentioned possibly fighting Andre Berto or even more lightly regarded Karim Mayfield. But Ellerbe said it will not be Thurman.

“I wish him the best,” Ellerbe said. “He makes me laugh at some of the things he says. He’s funny. He has a great sense of humor. And he got the fight game to back it up. But he’s not on Floyd’s level. That’s no disrespect. Floyd will decide who he’s fighting and then let the world know.

“He’ll decide who he wants to fight and then make the announcement how he wants to make it. But every last one of them, young and old, want to fight Floyd. If I was in their situation I’d be calling his ass out too because Floyd Mayweather represents the biggest payday out of all of them.”

So they're putting Spence in front of him to prevent a Floyd fight?

"But he’s not on Floyd’s level."

So Ortiz was on his level? Ghost? Maidana? WTF is this fuck boy shit? He's ranked fifth via RING and he's the WBA regular champ (whatever the FUCK that means.)

I already outlined what he is trying to do with PBC and everything I said has been happening. If you weren't so busy blaming Haymon and Floyd for all the evil in the world you would know what he is doing. He is not stopping you from watching the best fight the best (although I don't agree with Ellerbe's comments about Thurman.) THE NETWORKS (HBO AND SHO) are stopping the best fighting the best. Signing exclusive deals with the networks is stopping it. The bodies not enforcing their own fuckin rules is the problem. Haymon is not the cancer you make him out to be battle so stop hating on the man, fuck.

I don't care whether fights are on espn, spike, nbc, it doesn't matter to me as long as there are fights to watch for free. Teddy atlas was entertaining, but I'm not too sad about it.

It will matter once you see a bunch of no names and ratings go down because promo companies aren't allowed to hype up their fighters. Almost every single fight on PBC has been meaningless and the ratings dropping and low attendance is a clear sign. And yes, Haymon is the cancer. Just look at what he's doing to Thurman and Danny Garcia's careers. It's like they honestly thought Haymon was writing the checks when in fact it was GBP. But whatevers free fights are cool. It seems like you guys don't want to see the best fight the best

Don't worry about ratings. Give Haymon some time.

I think once Richard Schaefer is officially working for PBC the matchmaking will be better, because right now that's what PBC is lacking. They make a few good fights but a whole bunch make no sense at all and are stupid. Like this upcoming Thurman vs Collazo fight. No idea what they were thinking and what purpose it serves. Or Lara vs Rodriguez headlining a card (that should never happen). A lot of fights seem so bizarre and random. But others have been good like Garcia vs Peterson, Quillin vs Lee and Thurman vs Guerrero. Khan vs Algieri also made no sense but it turned out to be a good fight regardless. Once Dick Schaefer gets there I think he'll be hands on and start putting together fights that make sense.

That's why you gotta give this PBC thing a chance. It's still early on. It's frustrating that some fights aren't happening though Golovkin vs Quillin/Lara/Jacobs, Lomachenko vs Santa Cruz/etc, but in the long run it could be positive for the sport. Matchmaking must get better though.

Matchmaking may be lacking but theres been like 3 fights at least on network tv that are damn near ppv quality fights. I really dont see how anyone can complain when pretty most good fights u wont even have to have a premium channel to watch.
