Report: Pacers FA David West targeting Warriors, Spurs

Coming off an NBA championship, Golden State is an attractive destination for NBA free agents.

Veteran free agent David West, who declined a $12.2 million player option to remain with the Indiana Pacers this year, is interested in playing for either the Warriors or San Antonio Spurs, according to a USA Today report.

West, who turns 35 next month, wants to play for a title contender, and he's willing to take quite a pay cut to make it happen.

"At this point in my career, it's all about winning," West said. "And again, I don't want to be in a position where we're just fighting to make the playoffs, I want to be in a spot where we can legitimately taste the finals."

The Warriors could reportedly either sign him for $3.3 million annually with their mini midlevel exception or for $1.49 million annually at the veteran minimum.

An All-Star in 2008 and 2009 with the New Orleans Hornets, West is a proven scorer whose production has waned in recent years. But the 12-year veteran has averaged more than 10 points per game in each of the last 10 seasons.

He averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 28.7 minutes over 66 games for the Pacers last year -- down from his career averages of 15.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Warriors needs another shooter, Belinelli would have been perfect off the bench but he signed with the Kings. Is Ray Allen still coming back to play or did he retire?
i think ray allen retired.....? not sure, he'd be a nice option off the bench tho
side note, the kings are a fucking mess right now, no hope for that squad

Ray allen??? hes old as fuck might as well just let coach kerr suit up while ur at it
dude stays in shape, he'd be good for a couple spot up corner threes for the second string squad
other than getting rid of d.lee and re upping draymond, I don't think the dubs will be making any other moves in the off season

I guess he would be 3rd oldest player in NBA behind andre miller and tim duncan but i doubt he can come back miller and duncan stay active. Lee needs to go he costs to much money for nothing. Draymond earned that big contract IMO rice seems based off of leonards contract with spurs.

I was being sarcastic about Ray Allen, but I am serious about the Dubs needing a reliable shooter to come off the bench. 2nd unit doesn't have a threat at the 3 point line. Livingston is good posting up, Speights midrange jumper was actually falling this past season, Barbosa was decent driving/slashing to the hoop.... All they were missing was a player who can shoot the 3.

as good as they were, they still have hella room to improve. The players themselves kept saying they feel they didn't hit their ceiling yet. They need that missing puzzle piece and then we won't have to worry about the 2nd unit losing the lead while the starters rest. A shooter would help spread the floor, and when the floor opens up they will be able to run/set more plays better.
