Froch is a good fighter. His resume is awesome. Beat Taylor, Pascal, Abraham, Bute, Glen Johnson, Yusaf Mack and lost a razor close one to Kessler. Ward is just on another level. Ward beats Froch 10 out of 10 times. Froch just feeling cocky cuz he got that big KO win over Bute, but I know Ward would love a rematch cuz there's money in it. I wouldn't mind it. Plus, Ward the only thing he's criticized about is always fighting in Oakland so if he wants to fight the Froch/Kessler winner I'd like to see him do it in England/Denmark just to just up the naysayers.

Ward's kind of in a tough spot for quality opponents. He's fought everyone there is to fight at 168 besides Dirrell...the Pavlik fight tbh was going to be a waste of a fight, just a name and some decent money, so the only guys he can get some real money against are guys he already beat (Froch/Kessler). At 175 there's Dawson who he already beat, he wont fight Hopkins (Bhop & Ward are friends, already stated they'd never fight). Pascal is good money only if he goes to Canada. Other than that not a whole lot there either.

Matthysse vs. Lundy on January 26th on Showtime at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada
Boxing article posted on December 26th, 2012 | Post Comment

Matthysse Lundy Matthysse vs. Lundy Hank Lundy lucas matthysse By Dan Ambrose: The January 26th bout between interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s) and Hank Lundy (22-2-1, 11 KO’s) has been moved from Los Angeles to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, The Joint, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Matthysse, 30, has made no secret to the fact that he’s hoping to face WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in 2013. However, it’s up to their mutual promoters at Golden Boy Promotions and the World Boxing Council whether Matthysse will get that fight because Garcia doesn’t appear to be chomping at the bit to face Matthysse.

When his name is brought up, Garcia shows little interest and seems more interested in other targets, like his upcoming February bout against former two division world champion Zab Judah.

Matthysse can’t afford to slip up and lose against Lundy because that would wreck his big plans on getting Garcia to fight him. Matthysse made a big mistake in his loss to Judah in 2010 by not going after Judah in the early rounds of the fight, and by the time that Matthysse did turn up the gas on Judah from the 5th round on, it wasn’t enough to impress the judges. It was enough to impress boxing fans but not the judges.

Lundy will likely try and start fast against Matthysse so that he can build up a lead and then coast with it in the second of the fight. However, Matthysse is going to put a lot of pressure on Lundy and force him to brawl, which is something that Lundy is good at but he’s not able to fight like that for long period of time.

Lundy will have a big advantage in hand speed over Matthysse in this fight, and if he can catch with a big shot that he doesn’t see there’s a possibility he could pull off an upset. Matthysse isn’t hard to hit and Lundy is dangerous when he’s throwing shots that his opponents don’t see coming.
Lundy would get KO'd. And he knows it which is why he pulled out. Looks like it's now going to be Matthysse vs Mike Dallas.

Broner to defend his title against Rees February 16
By John J. Raspanti, Doghouse Boxing (Dec 30, 2012) Doghouse Boxing

Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Manny Pacquiao 4
Adrien “The Problem” Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) will put his newly won WBC lightweight belt on the line February 16 against Gavin “The Rock” Rees (37-1-1, 18 KOs) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. He had had hoped to face Ricky Burns in a title-unification bout, but the deal fell apart over money.

Broner, 23, overwhelmed Antonio DeMarco last November to capture the lightweight crown. His Floyd Mayweather like defense and sharp combinations befuddled and ultimately defeated the game DeMarco. Broner prefers to stand in the pocket and punch - all the while keeping his chin tucked behind his left shoulder.

Rees victory over Souleymane M’ Baye in 2007 gave the 32-year-old native of Wales the WBA super lightweight belt. Rees lone lost was in his first defense of his title nine months later. Rees was last seen stopping Derry Mathews in the ninth round. The challenger went to his twitter account to comment on his upcoming fight with Broner.

"Looks like I'm fighting Adrian Broner 16th Feb for WBC title massive fight for me and time for me to become 2 weight world champ," Rees wrote.

On the undercard, heavyweights Jonathon Banks (29-1-1, 19 KOs) and Seth Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 Kos) will battle for the second time. Banks shocked Mitchell by knocking him out in the second round in their first encounter. Mitchell exercised the rematch clause and hopes to prove that one loss will not define his career.

Donaire On Past Suicide Attempt: 'i Felt Like I Didn't Belong

by Lem Satterfield

RING and WBO junior featherweight champion Nonito Donaire has been formidable in the squared circle as of late, becoming a titleholder in a fourth division and totaling as many victories over the course of 2012.

But in an unflinching interview with Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix that is as startling as it is compelling, the 30-year-old native of the Philippines reveals how a low self-esteem and depression nearly led to his suicide at the age of 10.

"I felt like I didn't belong," the story quotes Donaire, who tried to hang himself from his bunk bed. "My family didn't have much. We didn't need an extra mouth to feed."

Nowadays, Donaire (31-1, 20 knockouts) is riding a wave of success, having recently married his long-time love, Rachel Donaire, become a pioneer with his 24-hour-per day commitment to year-round, random drug testing that is being conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), and his likely selection as Fighter Of The Year by a number of reputable boxing entities.

In addition, Donaire's sensational third-round knockout earlier this month of Mexican four-division titleholder Jorge Arce resurrected the hopes of his Filipino countrymen as it came a week after Philippines national hero Manny Pacquiao was left lying face-first and motionless in a sixth-round knockout loss to Mexican four-division titlewinner

Donaire made his 122-pound debut with February's split-decision over ex-beltholder Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., and followed that up with a unanimous decision over South Africa's Jeffrey Mathebula for the IBF title in July.

In October, Donaire's ninth-round stoppage of Toshiaki Nishioka ended the loser's run of 16-consecutive victories that had included 10 knockouts, handing the legendary Japanese fighter his first loss since March of 2004 -- a span of eight years and seven months.

But the man named ""The Filipino Flash" contends that no matter his success, he will never forget where he came from, or the fact that he very nearly ceased to exist.

Donaire was bullied pretty bad as a kid. To try to attempt suicide at the age of 10...man, that's fuckin rough. But look at him now, all these years later and he's a top 5 pound 4 pound fighter.

Broner vs Gavin Rees is a weak fight. But it doesn't matter as Broner is set to be on the Floyd undercard in May and I would assume it will be a much better opponent.

Mayweather Sr: He Will Fight Guerrero Next And Beat Him.

By Edward Chaykovsky

Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. expects his son, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., to face mandatory challenger Robert "The Ghost Guerrero on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

During recent interviews, Floyd Jr. said he was possibly going to work with his father for the May return, because his regular trainer, uncle Roger Mayweather, is having health related issues. Mayweather Sr. says Guerrero beat up former champion Andre Berto - because Berto made the mistake of trying to fight like Floyd Jr.

"I think he'll fight Guerrero next. [Andre] Berto got beat up [by Guerrero] because he didn't know what he was doing. Berto should have fought like he fights, not like how Floyd fights. He needs to fight his game, not Floyd's," Mayweather Sr. told Brad Cooney of 8countnews.com.

He says Floyd will be too smart for Guerrero.

"I think Floyd wins. Little Floyd is too smart for him. Anyway you want to look at it, Floyd is too smart for him," Mayweather Sr. said.

There are people who think Floyd is slowing down after a tougher than expected win over Miguel Cotto in May. Mayweather Sr. says his son was sick and nearly withdrew from the contest.

"Let me say this, I told people that Cotto was going to give Floyd a good fight. I was told that Floyd didn't feel good that night and actually thought about pulling out of that fight. He fought him anyway, and he proved himself again," Mayweather Sr. said.

Oh ok I was about to ask about Broner on the May card. So he is planning on fighting in Feb & May. Nice. Hopefully in May that will be his debut at 140. Maybe a Marquez bout if there isnt a Manny/Marquez 5. Got Em!!

No way it will be Marquez. For one, not enough money on the card to go around. Marquez, if he doesn't retire, surely he will only fight for big time money. Not undercard money. Two, I don't think Marquez could fight under a Golden Boy promoted card. Not sure exactly what his contract was/is with Top Rank, but I can almost guarantee part of the deal to fight Pacquiao was that Top Rank would have options on his next fight(s) (whether its a Pac rematch or something else (Rios/Bradley)).

lol. So Ricky Burns bitch ass ducked Broner again? Gavin Rees is a KO win for Broner waiting to happen.

Why is Top Rank scared to match Rios against Bradley?? Is Top Rank scared Rios will get schooled by Bradley?

Ward will beat the brakes off Froch or Kessler again and will probably stop both of them in rematches.

I also see Mitchell getting Ko'ed again by Banks.

Matthysse vs Mike Dallas Jr is a nice fight. Matthysse wants that Garcia title fight.

JEFF MAYWEATHER: "THE DECLINE OF PACQUIAO HAS BEEN EVIDENT"
By Percy Crawford | January 02, 2013

"Since the Margarito fight, Pacquiao has been on the decline. You saw the decline in Pacquiao with the Bradley fight and with the third Marquez fight and the Shane Mosley fight. Every fight after that Margarito fight was nothing. It was nothing to even be excited about anymore. It's one of those things where you can actually see it happening; leading up to this fight, you can see it happening. But just because Marquez had never even dropped Pacquiao leading up into this fight, you couldn't prepare yourself for what was going to happen. But at the same time, the decline of Pacquiao has been evident. It's shown itself 3 or 4 fights ago; it showed itself. And in my opinion, this fight exposed him for what he really is now. He's not the same fighter and he hasn't been the same fighter for a long time," stated world-class trainer Jeff Mayweather, who shared his thoughts on Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Roy Nelson, King Mo, what to look for in 2013, and much more.

PC: How is everything going Jeff?

JM: Everything is going good.

PC: Congratulations on Roy Nelson's knockout win over Matt Mitrione. What did you think of his performance?

JM: I thought that Roy…it was kind of what I expected, but he's getting a whole lot better with his hands. Not only that, I mean, I think that he's got pretty good speed too. People are going to start seeing more and more that he's getting a lot better with his boxing skills.

PC: It's nice when you see a mixed martial artist make that transition and start progressing in his boxing. You have been working a lot with King Mo as well. Are you seeing those same progressions with him?

JM: Oh yeah! I mean, it's a lot easier for Mo because Mo already has a boxing mindset. And for Roy, don't get me wrong, see Roy has a fighter's mentality and not necessarily a boxer's mentality. He just wants to fight, but now he is fighting with a whole different vigor because he's fighting with a lot more technique, precision, and it's not just about the overhand right no more. You gotta look for a whole lot more than just the overhand right with Roy now.

PC: You always worked combination punching since the day you got with Roy. It showed in the Mitrione fight. Is he putting things together like you want him to be as far as his combinations go?

JM: Oh yeah, definitely, because the thing is Roy is 250 pounds, or close to it, and I have Roy every single round throwing well over 500 punches; it's non-stop. The reason why he can get in so many punches is because of the fact that I have him throwing as much as 15-punch combinations. One thing that I like about Roy is he challenges himself. The harder I push him, the harder he will fight to stick with me. And the thing with me also, they always say that MMA guys don't run and all that. I don't know what they do, but I just know that when Roy is with me, he's gonna be forced to push himself no matter what, whether he is running or not. He's going to get in shape from muscle memory. Its non-stop combinations when me and him get to working. There is a very low lull in action between me and him because it's constant. I try to keep pushing him, and like I said, well over 500 punches a round, and we even got as high as 618. He threw 618 punches in a 5-minute round period. So that's definitely pushing yourself and it's something that you can't do unless you're pushing yourself.

PC: Moving on to boxing, of course I gotta tackle Marquez knocking Pacquiao out first. What were your thoughts on the fight, and of course your thoughts on Pacquiao being knocked out?

JM: Nobody really saw the knockout coming. There were a few people that did say that that would happen, but very, very few. I mean, Marquez won 3 of the 4 fights anyways. I think to win in that fashion is a statement all in itself. This time around, he didn't need the judges and there was no chance of him being cheated. He made a great statement for himself.

PC: Are you interested in a fifth fight between those two guys?

JM: The thing is this, who cares? To be honest, the only reason there has been as many fights as they have had is because Pacquiao really didn't win those fights. It was basically Pacquiao trying to prove that he was the better fighter. He was trying to prove a statement, because if you already beat this guy 2 times and had a draw with him, you don't need to fight him no more. Since every time you fought him it was controversial, you did have to keep fighting him. Either yourself or your team or somebody that was involved with Pacquiao had to have doubt that he was winning those fights. That's the only way that those fights could have kept taking place. Right now, for the fight to happen, I don't know, it's one of those fights I think everybody will still spend their money to watch because everybody wants to see a good fight. Whether it ends the same way or goes the distance again, it's gonna be one of those fights. But me myself personally, I don't care to see it no more, but I think fight fans will pay to see it.

PC: The fights definitely live up to the billing. You're just saying enough is enough.

JM: Right. There is no point in it to me. But at the same time, it's one of those situations where they can still make good money because of the history of their fights; they can still make good money. And maybe now they don't want to take a risk of Pacquiao fighting anybody else that maybe can derail this series with Marquez and make him want to retire all together. The most money on the table for Pacquiao is going to be Marquez now because nobody wanna see him fight Floyd anymore. The Pactards, or whatever they call themselves, PacManiacs, of course they gonna want him to fight Floyd if he got knocked out again and again. That's how stupid they are. At the end of the day, the value of the fight is gone, so stop talking about what Pacquiao can do and Pacquiao this and that. Floyd fought Marquez off of almost a two year layoff and played with him like he was in high school. And not to say just because he did that to Marquez, because styles make fights, but at the same time, what people fail to realize is this, Pacquiao got beat by Marquez because Marquez is a counter puncher. And Floyd is probably two or three times better than Marquez at that job. Even Freddie Roach said, "Oh, he has trouble with counter punchers." If he has trouble with counter punchers, what the hell is he gonna have with Floyd, the best counter puncher in the world? It's asinine. He just has his fans that are diehard fans, just like I still know fans today that don't believe that Mike Tyson ever lost a fight. Even though we saw him on the canvas more than once, but because they are diehard fans, they just don't believe it, and that's what we are seeing with Pacquiao. He has those type of fans that, no matter what happens to him, they are still gonna be his fans and they still think he is gonna have a chance to beat whoever. But I mean, it's over with. That whole thing is over with because the one thing that his fans and everyone else have seen in this, even his true fans, they've seen that since the Margarito fight, Pacquiao has been on the decline. He's not the same fighter and he hasn't been the same fighter for a long time.

PC: What sticks out the most in your mind from 2012?

JM: There are a few things that stick out this year. I think Broner has become the breakout fighter this year. He put himself out there to become a star in the sport of boxing. you have Austin Trout, who actually made himself…I still won't say he made himself marketable because there is still nothing to him, even with his win over Cotto. I put it this way, he made himself probably the guy that nobody wants to fight. He probably put himself in that position. There are a few things that happened. What amazes me from this year is now all of a sudden since Marquez knocked out Pacquiao, there is the issue of drug testing. When Floyd said it, he was scared to death and that was the only reason why he was doing it. Now all of a sudden since Pacquiao got knocked out now, it's become an issue. Even Jim Lampley is talking about it and he's a broadcaster. That's not his job. When everybody said Pacquiao was doing it, it was taboo. You couldn't even talk about it. It was almost like you can't even say that about Pacquiao. No way! But yet here it is, indirectly without saying it, you're saying it about Marquez.

Schaefer doesn’t see Canelo vs. Trout taking place
Boxing article posted on January 2nd, 2013 | Post Comment

Richard Schaefer Alvarez Trout Alvarez vs. Trout saul alvarez austin trout By Dan Ambrose: Despite WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout’s comments that a fight between him and WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is close to being made for May 4th. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, the promoter for Alvarez, says he doubts that fight will take place. He does say that Trout is one of the options that he’s considering for Alvarez’s next fight date, but it’s still not likely.

Sports Illustrated writer Chris Mannix said on his twitter “Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer tells SI that NoDoubtsTrout is ‘being considered’ for Canelo but ‘at this point, don’t think it will happen.’”

Trout replied to the twitter, saying “There you go y’all kill all that excitement.”

That’s pretty disappointing but also it’s kind of expected. Saul Alvarez said he wanted to fight Trout, but it looks like Alvarez was all talk and no action.

Did anyone really believe that Schaefer would allow his “Golden Goose,” as Trout calls Alvarez, to fight him? I didn’t because Trout doesn’t fit the mold of the kinds of opponents that Golden Boy has been putting in with Alvarez. He’s too damn good and too damn big. They’ve been feeding little welterweights and light welterweights to Alvarez in what appears to be an effort to pump him up in front of the boxing public. Why else would Golden Boy have been matching Alvarez against light welterweights and welterweights instead of guys from his own division?

The options for Alvarez’s next bout will come down to the names that Schaefer floated at the Trout vs. Miguel Cotto post fight press conference. Schaefer mentioned James Kirkland and Miguel Cotto as two fighters that he’s considering for the fight. If neither of those guys want the fight nor get selected, it’ll come down to either Alfredo Angulo or Marcos Maidana.

Given that Golden Boy has been matching Alvarez against 140 and 147 pounders, I think Maidana will get the pick because he’s basically a light welterweight who recently moved up in weight to welterweight and he clearly doesn’t have the size to be anything more than a contender/gate keeper at this weight. He was much better at 140. Maidana is a Golden Boy fighter, so that puts him in a good position to get selected. He’s no threat to beating Alvarez, unlike Trout.

The IBF will allow Froch to skip Stevenson defense to face Kessler in unification bout
Boxing article posted on January 2nd, 2013 | Post Comment

Froch Kessler 2 Froch vs. Kessler mikkel kessler carl froch adonis stevenson By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like the International Boxing Federation will be letting IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch maneuver around his IBF mandatory challenger Adonis Stevenson so that Froch can fight a unification bout against WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler next.

A spokesman for the IBF told eastsideboxing.com “Adonis will have to step aside and wait until the unification bout between WBA title holder Mikkel Kessler and the incumbent IBF champ [Froch] takes place.”

That’s so sad. Stevenson gets bypassed so that Froch can fight an arguably less dangerous fight against Kessler instead the blazing fast and powerful Stevenson.

The unfortunate thing about this is that Froch could end up bypassing Stevenson a second time if Froch can get past Kessler, because Froch wants to fight WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward. I suppose we could see Froch getting another free pass to go around Stevenson. The IBF has to have some kind of limits for this kind of thing because being able to fight guys over and over again in unification bouts is a bad thing if you’re a the mandatory challenger who keeps getting passed up each time.

It was thought that Froch would have to vacate the IBF title or have it stripped from him if he refused to defend the title against Stevenson. I never expected Froch to face Stevenson, so I was waiting for his promoter Eddie Hearn to signal that Froch is giving up the IBF strap. But now with the IBF letting Froch go around Stevenson, it means he won’t have vacate his title and can fight Kessler next in their unification bout.

I guess Stevenson will just have to keep busy until Froch gets done with all of his unification bouts. It might just be that one fight because I see Kessler beating Froch, and that’ll put the onus on Kessler to fight Stevenson. That still doesn’t mean he will fight him, because I see Kessler then fighting a unification bout or two against WBO champ Arthur Abraham and then Ward, while Stevenson sits and waits.

Guerrero: I’ve got what it takes to beat Mayweather; people will be in shock
Boxing article posted on January 2nd, 2013 | Post Comment

Mayweather Guerrero Mayweather vs. Guerrero robert guerrero floyd mayweather jr By Chris Williams: WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero says he’s going to prove boxing fans wrong when he faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 4th on HBO at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guerrero points out that few fans believed that he could move up to welterweight and beat the likes of Andre Berto and Selcuk Aydin, and now many of these same fans don’t see Guerrero capable of beating Mayweather Jr.

Guerrero said to eastsideboxing.com “People will find out the truth very soon…I’m a natural southpaw who can adapt to different styles in the ring. I’m also more athletic than most realize. It’s all there to defeat Floyd…everyone will be in shock…I’m going to tell everyone ‘I told you so.’”

I don’t see Guerrero being able to shock the world like he thinks he thinks he will. I don’t see him shocking anybody in this fight. It’s going to be a pretty normal fight for Mayweather with him likely pitching a shutout over Guerrero.

Guerrero seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder about people underestimating him since he’s moved up from light, but can you really blame boxing fans for doubting the guy? Any fighter that moves up from lightweight to welterweight without stopping off at light welterweight is going to be doubted by boxing fans, because it’s a huge jump up in weight. You don’t see too many guys that can do that, and Guerrero didn’t look all that great in beating Aydin in his first fight at welterweight.

Guerrero looked beatable going into his second fight at 147 against a ring rusty Andre Berto. However, Guerrero was able to win that fight for a variety of reasons. First off, Berto changed his fighting stance and adopted the Mayweather shoulder role, which he did a really poor job of using it.

Instead of it helping his defense, it made him a lot worse because he ended up learning in the direction of the southpaw Guerrero’s left hands all night. The other reason why Berto lost was because he didn’t throw enough punches.

Berto used to be able to throw a lot of punches in his early 20s, but now that he’s nearing 30, he’s much less active. Berto’s final mistake was fighting off the ropes for the entire fight instead of the center of the ring. This made it easy for Guerrero to win because he’s a better inside fighter than Berto.

Andre Dirrell vs. Rowland Bryant possible for January 19th
Boxing article posted on January 2nd, 2013 | Post Comment

Rowland Bryant Dirrell Bryant Dirrell vs. Bryant andre dirrell By Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight talent Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO’s) is saying on his twitter page that he’s going to be back in the ring on January 19th against fringe super middleweight contender Rowland Bryant (16-2, 11 KO’s). Nothing is confirmed with the fight as of yet, however, so we’ll have to wait and see if it takes place or not.

Dirrell has got the speed, power and defensive ability to make this a very easy fight. Dirrell lost a controversial decision to Carl Froch in the Super Six tournament in a fight that many boxing fans felt Dirrell won. That’s the only loss on Dirrell’s resume, and I personally don’t count it as a loss.

Dirrell has wanted a rematch with Froch ever since then but there’s been no interest from Froch’s end to giving him the shot. I guess I don’t blame Froch, because Dirrell made him look really bad in their fight.

If this fight gets made, Dirrell will have a really tough opponent on his hands. I rate Rowland as a better puncher than Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. The man can really punch. Rowland, 33, did a number on Librado Andrade last year in April in stopping him in the 4th round. Andrade is a good fighter but Rowland made it look easy in chopping him down. It was like watching Cornelius Bundrage blowing out one of his opponents. Rowland lost his last fight to unbeaten Thomas Oothuizen in a fight that was a lot closer than the final judges scores handed down. I had Oosthuizen winning by a couple of rounds.

Dirrell, 29, is one of the biggest talents in the 168 pound division but he’s fought only once since being fouled in the Super Six tournament by Arthur Abraham in March of 2010. Dirrell stayed out of the ring recovering for a year and half before coming back in December of 2011 and destroying Darryl Cunningham. It was thought then that Dirrell would make a run for one of the titles. Unfortunately, Dirrell chose not to fight during 2012 for whatever reasons but it looks like he’s finally ready to get back in the ring

Tim Bradley to fight on March 16th
Boxing article posted on January 1st, 2013 | Post Comment

timothy bradley By Allan Fox: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title on March 16th, according to his promoter Bob Arum. He’s not saying who his opponent will be, so it’s anyone’s guess who winds up with him.

Arum said to 8countnews.com “Tim Bradley’s fight on March 16th. They’re finalizing his opponent in the next few days.”

Bradley ended up wasting a great deal of time waiting to see if Manny Pacquiao was going to show interest in a rematch. Pacquiao instead opted to face Juan Manuel Marquez. Bradley had the chance to fight Lamont Peterson, but he chose not to take that fight. When Bradley does get back in the ring to fight it’ll have been 9 months since he last fought in beating Pacquiao by a questionable decision in June of last year.

Bradley isn’t going to help himself if he stays inactive for long periods of time. This seems to be a trend for Bradley, because after he beat Devon Alexander by a 10 round technical decision in January 2011, Bradley didn’t fight until 10 months later in defeating 40-year-old Joel Casamayor by an 8th round TKO win in November 2011. Bradley then sat out of action for 7 months until fighting Pacquiao.

The options for Bradley’s March 16th fight are among these fighters:

Jan Zaveck
Lamont Peterson
Bethel Ushona
Shawn Porter
Mike Jones

None of those are great fights. Bradley wants to get the big money fights against Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Unfortunately, his fighting style and his lack of a fan base will likely keep him from getting another fight against Pacquiao. A fight against Mayweather is highly unlikely because Bradley fights for Top Rank and Mayweather very rarely fights Top Rank fighters, and I can’t see him making an exception in this case, even though it would probably be an easy fight for Mayweather.
