I agree with this. I was a huge GTA fan before, but was left a little dissapointed by the new one. its fun and all, its just not the same. SA was the pinnacle of the series so far imo.
my main complaint was that they took away planes, helicopters, sick houses with garages, and generally all the shit that made you feel like you OWNED the town after you beat the game. This one has a better story and all, but in the end you still feel like a broke ass immigrant.

they tried to make it much more realistic and cinematic and by doing so they have take out some of the fun things like jetpacks and moster trucks and conspiracy theories and car customisation and all the other fun things from san andreas
also, some of the less conventional weapons such as miniguns and flamethrowers are out
however its still a very good game and worth a purchase and play through, just dont expect as much comedy as you found in san andreas

ya like everyone has said they stripped the game to its basics (missions, story, graphics, etc.) and brought these to the next generation with pretty good results. unfortunatly they scrapped ALL the extras that made SA so much fun (no car customization WTF?)
and btw no matter what anyone says the shooting mechanic still BLOWS as much as it ever has. dont believe the biased web reviews.

kinda the same, kinda different. more similar than different. you can "half press" the trigger to free aim, but fully press it to lock onto targets.
i just remember reading reviews that said "they finally fixed the tageting system that had plagued the series for years!" Lies...its still hell faulty in a hectic firefight.
and is it just me or does the player feel like hes got fuckin lead in his shoes compared to past games? walking, turning and running all seem slow and cumbersome. that always bothered me bout this game.
in the end tho its still a great game.
