Hot! Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke Sentenced In Drug Case

Roc-A-Fella records co-founder Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday, June 4th after pleading guilty to drug related charges last month following his arrest in a massive sting operation. The former friend of Jay-Zwas arrested back in October 2010 when he was charged with conspiracy to distribute 100 kilograms of marijuana.

While entering his plea, Biggs told Manhattan Federal Court Judge Loretta Swain that she wouldn’t see him in court in the future to which she replied, “Nothing personal, but I’m going to keep you to that promise,” according to New York Daily News.

The sting operation, which authorities dubbed “Operation Green Venom,” led to over 50 arrests and a sweep of New York’s wholesale weed market. Biggs wasn’t the only individual of some note that was taken in by police who also arrested High Times Magazine exec Matthew Stang.

The sting involved a number of agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the New York Police Department and the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. “With today’s arrests, we have successfully shut down a major pipeline for marijuana distribution in New York City. This successful operation was the result of a dedicated and ongoing partnership among federal, state and local law enforcement and reaffirms our zero-tolerance policy for those who flout our drug laws,” said U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
