North London’s, Benny Banks and Joe Black, Drop ‘Murder These Rhymes’

As two of UK Rap’s linchpins, North London’s finest, Benny Banks and Joe Black, come together to drop their collaborative mixtape ‘BnB’ and the latest record to drop is ‘Murder These Rhymes’.

Sonically engaging from the get go the deep reverb on the bass coupled with the menacing snare and looping keys is an instant draw in to the UK Rap world, courtesy of 1stborns production. With their two standout voices, Benny and Joe go bar-for-bar on the hook and back-to-back on the verses, firing out warning shots with their raw and confident bars in a magnificent representation of what they do best.

With Joe Black previously being highlighted by Charlie Sloth for The Guardian as “a huge problem” and Benny Banks receiving similar plaudits from the likes of Clash Magazine following their early mixtape releases including ‘Realionaire’, ‘King of the Underground’ and the ‘Patiently Waiting’ volumes, the pair have become widely regarded as two of the scene’s leading figures. Early material saw them at the forefront of the rise of UK Rap as individually they helped to redefine the sound, charging through previous barriers and stereotypes to spit conscious rhymes. Talking about real-life situations that they were living through not only made them genuine, it also made them relatable to an entire generation.

Now both highly established rappers with an exceptional legacy of music to their names, Benny Banks and Joe Black continue to demonstrate exactly why they are the front-runners of the game with the release of ‘BnB’ as they have already started to light up the airwaves with ‘Murder These Rhymes’. Following its BBC Radio 1Xtra premiere with Twin B, catch the video via Link Up TV from Friday 29th September.
