The 2014-15 NFL playoff schedule is set! It took all 17 weeks of the regular season schedule to determine who was officially in and which teams would face each other, but we now know the complete NFL playoff schedule, odds, dates and TV start times.
According to a Sportsline report, the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC with a 20-6 win over the Rams. Some experts believe the Seahawks aren’t as strong as they were last season, but having home field advantage may be just what Seattle needs to make a run at back-to-back titles.
Also clinching division titles yesterday were the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers were the last to do so late last night as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 27-17 on Sunday Night Football.
So now the real season begins! Twelve teams will compete for a chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy this upcoming Feruary in Phoenix, Arizona. Las Vegas odds makers have the Patriots as the team to beat heading into the postseason, however keep this in mind – the 2010 Packers were 35/1 to win the Super Bowl when the playoffs began and were the last team standing.
Also, in 2007 the NY Giants were 30/1 to bring home a championship at the start of the postseason when they pulled off the improbable win over the undefeated Patriots. Both were Wild Card teams and both went on to win the Super Bowl. That’s why the saying is true, once you make the playoffs, anything can happen!
