Dr. Dre’s ‘Compton’ Way Out In Front for U.K. No. 1
The hip-hip mastermind’s first album in 16 years, Compton: A Soundtrack, is way out front at No. 1 on the Official Chart Update, and it should stay there when the chart proper is published later this week.
Indeed, Dre can almost bank on it staying put. The album is currently outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined, according to charts compiler the Official U.K. Charts Company.
If and when Compton hits the top spot, it’ll be Dre’s first U.K. chart-topper. He achieved his best chart effort to-date with his most recent album, 2001, which peaked at No. 4 in 1999.
The U.K.’s albums chart is based on sales of downloads, CDs, vinyl and audio streams and is published Friday.
