Bobby Shmurda: Rapper Faces New Prison Contraband Charges, District Attorney Says

Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda, who is currently awaiting trial in a drugs and violent crime case, is facing new charges of promoting prison contraband and perjury for allegedly taking a knife from his visiting girlfriend while he was jailed at Rikers Island.

Ackquille Pollard, 20, received a sharp metal object from his girlfriend, 18-year-old Kimberly Rousseau while she was visiting him at Riker’s Island on June 21, according to Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson. Rousseau allegedly reached under her bra, took out the homemade knife and handed it to Pollard.

Pollard, who’s also accused of lying to the grand jury about the incident, pleaded not guilty to all the charges when he was arraigned in Bronx Supreme Court Thursday. The case has been adjourned until October, and he was returned to Riker’s, the district attorney said.  allegedly smuggled a knife to him during a recent visit, Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson said. He is currently awaiting trial at Rikers Island for a separate case.

Pollard was arrested last December in an investigation into a gang that police allege sold drugs, dealt guns and committed violent crimes. He was arraigned on conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and weapons and drug charges, and has remained jailed since then.

The Brooklyn-born Pollard is best known for the hit song “Hot Boy.” He also put out a music video that popularized a dance craze called the “Shmoney dance,” and reportedly signed a lucrative record deal with Epic Records.
