As two highly established solo rappers that have long had a strong affiliation with one another, Benny Banks and Joe Black finally collaborate to bring us an entire mixtape in the form of 12-track ‘BnB’.
Having already dropped videos for ‘Murder These Rhymes’, ‘Fvck Boys’ and ‘Way Too Long’ on the run up to release, the full 12 tracks are now out in full and ready to be explored Conscious bars flow with real-life stories over a selection of varied beats that tap in to the worlds of jazz, on the ‘sit back and smoke’ vibes of Joe Black’s ‘Better Place’ whilst the deep reverb and back to back bars on ‘Murder These Rhymes’ make for a magnificent representation of what Benny and Joe do best. Features roll in courtesy of Black The Ripper, S Loud, 1st Born, Jovel, Akelle and YMB and the tape finishes with final words from Benny Banks on a straight talking freestyle.
Prior to release, the reception for the tape has already been exceptional, seeing the duo takeover the airwaves at BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Kiss FM and more. Joe Black has previously been highlighted by Charlie Sloth for The Guardian, as “a huge problem”, and Benny Banks has received similar plaudits from the likes of Clash Magazine following early mixtape releases, something ‘BnB’ is set to continue.
