Aspiring Rapper “Kealo” Shot Dead While Filming Music Video

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. (WJLA) — An aspiring 21-year-old D.C. rapper and prolific YouTube video artist was shot and killed while filming a music video in Maryland, authorities told ABC7 News on Thursday.

Keaway Lafonz Ivy, who used the rap name Kealo, died of a gunshot wound near 62nd Place and Eastern Avenue in Seat Pleasant on Wednesday night.

According to law enforcement sources, the Southeast Washington man was filming a rap video along with as many 20 people when a gun being used a prop was fired; Ivy was hit and killed.

Police had said they were questioning numerous people as they investigated the death to try to determine whether it was an accidental shooting or intentional.

By Thursday evening, police were calling the fatal shooting a ‘homicide’ and Prince George’s County Crime Solvers offered a $25,000 reward for information in the case leading to an arrest or indictment.
