ok i need some computer help

i got a cd today and downloaded some movies and didnt have blank dvd's so i used blank cd's to make a VCD with NERO but it always come out too big of a file with NERO since my cd's will only hold 700 MB and it automatically adds more than 1000 MB to each video so i cant use NERO i guess no matter how small the video is

so then i decided to make an invention of some sort or something so i just dragged the video onto the blank cd on my computer and then right clicked and burned to cd and when it finished saving i guess it ended up being data or something cuz my cd's are for all purpose so then i went to test it on my cd/dvd player and it said it was a cd and it sead that the files were not readable or somehting like that

so then (using the same cd) i went to Windows Movie Maker to try to put the movie on through there so it took about 5 minutes to get it ready and then i added a little intro thing and then i started burning onto the cd and once it finished i went to test it on my cd/dvd player again and it said the same thing that it was not readable or something like that and it said it was a cd too

so what happened why doesnt it play?? is it because the time i put the movie straight in through my computer and maybe saved it on there is a document or something and all the dvd player reads is the data or whats wrong

thanks

The DVD player wont read it because the file isnt in the right format.........

I also was wondering if there was any way to save the movies as AVI file straight from DVD player/DVD to the computer....
