Aronofsky and Nolan are both great. I think my favorite has to be P.T. Anderson (Hard 8, Boogie Nights, Punch Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood). Waiting for The Master to come out this year.

Guillermo del Toro - Mimic, Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Blade II(they should have given him full reign over the trilogy), Pan's Labyrinth, and the soon to be Pacific Rim(2013)

That's not even mentioning his production credits - the Hellboy Animated films, Kung Fu Panda 2, Rise of the Guardians, and Pinocchio.

His cinematic vision and artistic sense appeals to me more than other directors in Hollywood. Plus, he's everyone's friend and a comic book nerd.

I gotta throw Chan-wook Park's name out there. Oldboy, Thirst, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Lady Vengeance, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK. Can't wait for his American debut with Stoker.

Aronofsky & Nolan are probably my favorites. I think Fincher is overrated tbh.

lol. say that to the Academy Awards. i dont even think they gave him a nomination for best director. but you can't argue with you're favorites since those are all top of my list aswell. i just think fincher draws a certain type of crowd and he can be looked at as average by some and great by some. he made a movie about Facebook be an amazing film, not many directors can do that shit.

Academy Awards doesn't mean much to me. Usually it's popularity or the more "political correct" winners.

Anyways, I'm not saying Fincher is a bad director or anything like that, obviously he's very talented. I just think recently he's been a bit overrated, especially with the social network (personally, again my opinion, I honestly didn't think it was a great movie at all). Talented, absolutely. Good at what he does? He's great. Just a bit overrated imo. Se7en & Fight Club were fantastic films. Everything since, in my mind, has been pretty average.

What he's really good at is signing on to projects that are really interesting and are typically different stories than what we're used to.
