The tale of a Texan boy's journey from the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as a "lost soul in the modern world", and his quest to regain meaning in life.

Sure, I really like the concept of the movie but do you know how hard that will be to pull off and really convince the audience? This movie has alot to prove..I also doubt the mainstream movie industry to actually make a movie so meaningful without controversy or some agenda to prove.

I've been waiting for this movie to come out for some time now. Finally got to see the trailer at work today and it didn't disappoint at all. I was going to post it when I got home but it looks like that has already been taken care of (thanks n9newun). I would agree that it looks "absolutely amazing" and I cannot wait to see it. I would imagine this movie would be as boring as ones interest in such matters. I could be wrong!

So from what I've read the release date is at the end of May in 2011? That sucks. It hasn't been nominated for any Golden Globes so we probably wont be seeing a super-early internet copy. Can't wait for this!

Just a heads up, the release date for The Tree of Life is May 27. Less than a month away now. I wish it were already out. Definitely the next movie I will see in theaters.

I worked on this film, alot of tears and years went into this go check it out. For those that can operate in the film world -not pictures following a literary format and conventions- this is the film for you.

The movie had a limited release on May 27th and from what I've read, it did well and is going to start expanding. Not to mention the reviews have been very positive.

iMDB: 7.9/10 (8.6 U.S.) When you consider the complexities of this movie (gathered through reading) this rating is probably understated.
RT: 88%

Im growing increasingly impatient - I seriously cannot wait to see this movie. It is precisely the type of film I love to watch. I am probably getting ahead of myself here, but with the elements of this one (coming of age, loss of innocence, existence, etc., and how they relate to time and space), it has the potential to be my favorite movie ever. However, it's all in the execution. The only Malick film I have seen is The Thin Red Line and I thought it was dope. I know most of you think it will be boring but I have a pretty good feeling about this one.

I am probably going to see this on the 18th in SF. The 8th of July is just too damn far away! Told my lady it's what I want for fathers day.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment just by having those expectations. I'm with you though, I've been anticipating this movie for a while now.

Honestly, I know it sounds that way, but I really don't have that high of expectations. At least I'm trying not to. I am just speaking to the different ingredients this movie has, and the potential, or what this movie could be. That is what excites me, because I feel these types of movies come along once every 5 years or so, at best. For the longest time I thought that having too high of expectations can really ruin a movie, because I found myself dissapointed all too often - and to some degree I still do. But when Inception came out, I had super-high expectations, and it completely exceeded them in every way possible. And that gave me some reassurance that I can get excited about a movie without jeapordizing the outcome. So I really believe it just has to do with the director, and whether or not the execution is there.

The reason I used "best ever", is because, if I were given the opportunity to write and direct a single movie, it would probably be very similar to this.
