anyone check this out? screener available online. I know there are some Lars Von Trier fans up in here.

Watched last night. It's a bit slow but interesting throughout. Visually nice as you'd expect from Lars. Not sure how to rate it or I how felt about the 2nd half/ending. Worth the watch though if you're into his shit.

oh and Kirsten Dunst areolas breh. Much nicer than I had previously suspected.

Fuck yeah @ Kirsten Dunst. Not saying she's super-hot or anything, but ever since she did that cover for Maxim I've wanted to see them areolas. And in the interview for that issue they asked her about the possibility of ever doing a nude scene in a movie and she was entirely against it. Which made me angry. But this is what happens when an actress falls out of favor in hollywood. They'll strip down to get parts. I don't think she has hit pay dirt since Spiderman 3.

And I don't mean to thread-jack, but I didn't want to make a thread about it- has anyone seen Dogville? I've made 2 attempts at watching this movie now. The first time I just turned it off because watching a play on a television set did not sound like a good time. The second time (I forgot about the first until I started it) I was just too damn tired. I'll probably still end up watching it but it's a 3 hour long movie and would like some feedback first considering the style of movie it is. The movie was written/directed by Lars Von Trier.

I had my reservations about writing how I really feel about this film, especially considering there are so few people in here that really appreciate movies like this, but I'm going to anyway. This was my first viewing of a Lars von Trier film.

In short, this is one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen.

There are two themes intertwined within the movie; there is the impending doom of planet earth as another planet is on a collision course, and there is the central theme, which is the way 4 people deal with this fate. It is important to note that the planet does crash and the world does end. The reason I say that is because Lars von Trier wanted to emphasise the manner in which the characters dealt with this rather than the end of the world. In other words, he didn't want people to focus any attention on IF the world was going to end because he felt that it would take away from the attention paid towards the characters emotional state.

The film is broken down into 2 "chapters", each one focusing on each of the two sisters in the film who are the main characters. There is also the husband of one of the sisters (Kiefer Sutherland) and their son. The first 10 minutes of the film are nothing short of a spectical. Then, for about the next 45 minutes to an hour there is the part of the film where it is very easy to lose interest. It is rather boring, and sometimes annoying! It's where characters in the film are developed for the latter half of the movie, and is, for the most part, very uneventful. I can't emphasise this enough, though; once you get past the "wedding" and onto the second chapter, you begin to realize why the first half played out the way it did.

The second half (chapter 2) is where I was pulled in and ultimately completely immersed in the film. The directing and acting was so brilliant that I was able to actually feel what the characters were going through. It reached a point where I was literally thinking in my mind "holy shit", on several occasions. The last 10 minutes I thought for sure were going to be fucked up by something but I couldn't have been more wrong. It was perfect.

Having said that, proceed with caution. You may very well hate this movie. I bet if 10 of you watched in, half of you wouldn't get through the first hour. But I know there are a few of you who perhaps by my bringing this thread/movie back to light might have the same expierence I did. And with that in mind, you should definitely give it a shot!

At the VERY LEAST, you got Dunst' tiddies!

GREAT MOVIE!
