It was a let down for an hour and a half premier. But I'll give it some more time because what this show has that the walking dead didn't cover is how society fell. TWD Rick woke up in the hospital a couple weeks or so after the collapse, this show we'll get to see how that all happened. Thing is if it fell that quick the show should cover that in one season easily.

As for the characters they are all pretty weak so far. The junkie kids is alright but the parents seemed pretty unbelievable. I mean, here they see their junkie kid smashing the car into a dead guy that gets up and they weren't even really trippin! The dad believed the junkie Kid waaay too fast too. Oh he says some girl was eating people huh? Maybe I'll check it out! Yeah right, any parent of some fuck up junkie who's destroyed his life wouldn't be so willing to believe some outrageous story and give him the benefit of the doubt, no the would be fed up with all the bullshit lies, excuses and disappointment. The whole thing was really unbelievable.

You used unbelievable a lot for a fictitious series. Where do you draw the line on a zombie apocalypse.
Unbelievable as actors. They failed to convince me.

But as far as zombie apocalypse goes, I do actually expect a fair deal of realism. It's not that far fetched that a virus could wipe out most of humanity. Of course the living dead eating people seems rather unlikely, but it's not that hard to explain it in a real world kind of way. Its not like we're talking about wizards shooting lightening bolts out of their asses or some fantasy stuff. Hell, Game of Thrones is a true fantasy series but they still manage to make it all rather convincing and real.

I'm about to watch the first episode.

That the first isn't good says nothing imo though. To be honoust I did not like the first episode of twd either. When it came out I watched it but I actually turned it off before the episode was over and that is very rare for me. But because everyone and their moms was hooked I decided to give it another shot a few years later. Same thing happened again. Turned it off again.
But again a few years later I watched a few episodes and then binge watched pretty much every episode that I was behind, turned out to be a pretty good show after all.

So hopefully they'll pick it up and it will be along the same lines as the og show

I didn't think the character development was as bad as some of you. What I really enjoyed were scenes that eluded to the future obvious that twd hardly touched on or viewers may have forgotten. Such as in every major city once it's all said and done there is a fucking shit load of walkers.

I didn't think it was half as bad as some of you described.

Yes the parents are annoying, especially the stephdad but I just don't like that actor guy. And 206 made some valid points about the script and how people would have reacted very different when encountering a zombie/walker for the first time.
But at least the mom is already bitten and I don't expect the dad to live too long either. The show still has a lot of potential... but also a lot of room to fuck up.. can go either way now.

that's why i love the stand so much. shit could happen except maybe all the communicating through dreams and randy flagg shit which was super cool but if you think about it the first half of that book could really happen.

The mom got bit? I missed that somehow.
