Feb 8th and 9th

Anticipating a need for some legal representation after the new year? AMC’s got you covered.

The Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at 10/9c, the network announced Thursday.

The next night, Feb. 9, AMC will air the series’ second episode in its regular, Mondays-at-10 time slot.

“The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White,” reads the Bad spin-off’s official description. “When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is ‘fixer’ Mike Ehrmantraut, a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts ‘criminal’ in ‘Criminal lawyer.’”

Bob Odenkirk will reprise his title role; Bad‘s Jonathan Banks also will return to play his character, Mike Ehrmantraut. The series’ cast also includes Michael McKean (Family Tree), Rhea Seehorn (Franklin & Bash), Michael Mando (Orphan Black) and Patrick Fabian (Grey’s Anatomy).

but man they really missed a golden opportunity here, they should have did a spin off on Gus. He was easily the most awesome villain of the show, how bad ass would it have been to have a show based on him in the early years rising up his way to the top to eventually become the kingpin he was. They show could have been just as dark, just as intelligent and full of twists and surprises.

Better Call Saul sounds kinda cool but I just don't think it's going to capture the breaking bad feel, more of a dark comedy or whatever that could be a disaster and fizzle out after a season or two. With Gus though, guaranteed hit. Such a mysterious character, so cold and calculated. Every bit as intelligent as Walt except he knew wtf he was doing.

I would def like to see gus in chile and also how he built his distribution/connects... but at the same time we did already learn alot about gus on the show so i get why they didnt jump right into that

I doubt the creators would make a show that was too light-hearted... Im thinking they rolled with saul because hes one of the standout characters..makes sense. But also cuz hes a good link to other characters, and along with mike they havent told us really anything about their past, which opens up lots of more writing creativity..

Yeah but a Gus show would pretty much be Breaking Bad 2.0. It would be cool but for the creators I'm sure they are just wanting to venture on something different.

I actually have high hopes for Better Call Saul, they can take the show in some interesting directions and it will be cool to see what they do with it.

What I'm not looking forward to is having to wait week after week for the episodes to come out. I binged watched the first four seasons of BB. If I had to wait week after week from the first it woulda drove me crazy.

I thought all of the dialogue involving Saul was brilliant. I thought other actors were better in the show, but virtually every conversation Saul had that I remember was written really well.

They are likely doing a spinoff on him called "The Rise of Gus".

They talked about this on NPR the other day... sounds like its going to be good. The reviewer was saying it shouldn't let down Breaking Bad enthusiasts - seems the attention to detail is on par with cinematography and story line, with plenty of easter eggs.

Lol the ending is what made this show from a fun little fuck around spoof into a serious drama, I likes
