Charles Oliveira pulled from Nik Lentz bout at UFC Fight Night 50

FUCC YOU OLIVEIRA!!!

LEDYARD, Conn. – After coming in heavy for his featherweight bout against Nik Lentz at UFC Fight Night 50 due to what his team said was a viral infection, Charles Oliveira has been pulled from tonight’s event.

UFC officials confirmed the news with MMAjunkie on Friday afternoon, and released a statement saying doctors did not clear Oliveira (18-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) for the fight with Lentz (25-6-2 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC).

“Tonight’s featherweight rematch between Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz has been scrapped from the UFC Fight Night event after Oliveira was not cleared by doctors to compete,” the statement reads. “Oliveira, who was getting over a viral infection he contracted in Brazil, had a relapse earlier this week and missed weight for the bout Thursday, coming in at 150 pounds. He did not attempt to weigh in again. This morning, the Brazilian fell ill, and after being seen by a doctor he was pulled from the bout. The UFC Fight Night event at Foxwoods … will proceed as scheduled with nine bouts.”

UFC Fight Night 50 takes place at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn., with a four-fight main card on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on that same channel. After originally being part of a six-fight main card, the Oliveira-Lentz rematch shifted to the prelims late Thursday when the event moved to just four fights on the main.

A UFC official told MMAjunkie Lentz will be paid both his show and win money. A decision has not yet been made on if the same will apply to Oliveira.

Oliveira on Thursday weighed in at 150 pounds for his featherweight bout with Lentz and was given three hours to cut to the non-title maximum of 146. But he elected to not cut any further weight, and Lentz agreed to take the fight while receiving 20 percent of Oliveira’s purse.

Oliveira and Lentz first fought at UFC on Versus 4 more than three years ago in Pittsburgh. Oliveira landed a knee in the second round that stunned Lentz, then went on to choke him out. But when replays later revealed the knee to be illegal, the “Fight of the Night” winner was overturned to a no-contest by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.

Chiesa got fucked, I've seen worse cuts get to keep fighting. That fight was turning great too. Fuck that cage doctor and fuck Herb "Safest ref in MMA" Dean for even stopping it to see the doctor.

I really hate Herb Dean.

It wasn't bleeding in to the eye though. It was bleeding to the side of the eye. Like I said I've seen much worse cuts, even ones that bleed in to the eye that don't get stopped. Doctor was retarded for stopping it.

That's the problem with dealing with athletic commissions in places like Connecticut though, they don't have the same kind of experience.

Guess that's it for Reem in the ufc. Lost 3 of 4 fights. All three fights by devastating ko's. to be fair tho, I think anybody would've been on Queer Street with a punch like that. Dude has all the skills in the world, just doesn't put his hands up n keep the chin down. I guess Greg Jackson should've duct taped his gloves to his head lol. Damn you REEM!!

Combination of age catching up with him and not being able to use what he wants to use training for fights lol. Whatever he was still awesome in Strikeforce i just dont know if he was tested then, kind of weird if he wasnt. Besides the Dos Santos beatdowns Cain has the most boring/easiest title run in heavyweight history. Sure he beat Brock when he was sick also dont think he would have beat him at 100% just my opinion. He hasnt fought since last October either
