UFC 163 weigh-in results: Jose Aldo, Chan Sung Jung on mark for title fight

RIO DE JANEIRO – MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps*–*MMAjunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today's official UFC 163 fighter weigh-ins, where all but one fighter made weight on their first attempts.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defends his belt against Chan Sung Jung in the pay-per-view main event. The co-main event features an important light heavyweight battle as former champion Lyoto Machida takes on Phil Davis.

Going after the seventh straight defense of his 145-pound title, including in the WEC, Aldo weighed in at 145 on the button for the title fight. "The Korean Zombie," who stepped in for Anthony Pettis in June when Pettis was injured, also was 145. Aldo is as much as a 7-to-1 favorite in the fight.

And in the co-main event, both Davis and Machida weighed in at 205 pounds on the button, with Machida obviously getting a significant ovation from his home fans.

Also on the main card, middleweight "Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" winner Cezar Ferreira was 185 pounds for his fight against Thiago "Marreta" Santos, who makes his UFC debut. Returning to the UFC for the first time in four years, onetime middleweight title challenger Thales Leites was 185 pounds for his fight against England's Tom Watson, who also was 205.

Flyweight John Lineker, who opens up the main card against newcomer Jose Maria, was the only fighter to miss weight. He came in three pounds heavy at 129 pounds, while Maria was 126. Lineker was given two hours to cut the additional weight.

The festivities took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, the same venue that hosts Saturday's card.

Machida is very frustrating to watch for most and can be excruciatingly boring but I actually appreciate how he uses his range and the way he counters or jumps in as someone is trying to initiate offense is dope to me. He just doesn't do it nearly enough.
