So if you're thinking it would sell more PPVs as a UFC fight vs a boxing fight, even if that were true which is debatable, they wouldn't be able to pay him $75-$100+ million or whatever the crazy bare minimum required would be.
That was my only comment, not the actual structure of the deal. Like you said, the UFC or any MMA promotion wouldn't put up that kind of money. I really have no clue who is putting up the money for this event but I believe if they are really paying Floyd 100M then they are taking a huge risk thinking they are going to get their money back on this.

I believe the typical boxing fan that usually pays for PPVs wont be paying for this one. Maybe the MMA fans crossing over temporarily will balance it out.

Let's see how ticket sales go. I am not so sure that the gate money will be up there either.

I am sure they will do well in the bar, pub scene though...

casual fans are eating this shit up. Friends of mine that usually only watch fights if I have em on at my house are already saying they'll pay whatever it's gonna cost, and they don't care that McG may get KO'd in a minute. If they have a good press tour and a shoving match at the weigh ins I don't see why they couldn't double the May-Pac buys

I'm calling either 7 round ko or 12 round decision Money. Could Mayweather ko him in the first, of course, but I expect Conor to not fight stupid and he has the cardio (not the boxing skills) to go the distance. Just an opinion.
Conor would have not throw a punch to make it 12. Any opening he gives Floyd he's getting hit. I'd be blown away if this fight makes it to the later rounds.

This is probably gonna be like Mayweather/Gatti, but way worse.

i'd be surprised if Conor would be able to go 12 rounds with him. he's only went 25 minutes in mma once. i doubt he's gonna be jumpin around like a boxer but it'd still be a surprise.

Conor dont cover his face like a boxer. everything down the middle is exposed. all Floyd gotta do is get in and get out without getting hit. Floyd trains for boxers with boxing stances so he'll have to adapt.

of course, even in Australia, every pub will be FULL of people watching this fight and at home on PPV. They are going to make a killing here, good for them.

I am not sure why this is going to sell so well, if everyone is calling for a slaughter.

I guess it's just me then. I cannot comprehend why anyone would pay to see this.
It's like paying to see Kershaw pitch against a bunch of kids in high school. Do you really want to sit there and watch him pitch a 9 inning shut out against 15 year olds?

9/10 people in this thread are probably going to stream this.
To fork up $80 is insane...

I'm calling for less than a million buys. No way it breaks that.

Most of the people posting here watch fights (either boxing or MMA) on a regular basis and understand that it's 2 different sports. I think you'd be surprised how many people out there are saying stupid shit like "Well Conor has a boxing trainer" etc etc.

I work all over the place and anyone I hear talking about this fight isn't talking about it like we are here. I think you're gonna be shocked at the numbers this thing does.

mcgregor has the power but not the defense
his defense for mma is not bad at all but it doesnt directly translate into boxing. it leaves him wide open in boxing but the boxers that go for the easy opening will have to deal with his accuracy and reach and stance. Floyd is somethin else tho so we'll see how it goes. Mayweather 49-0 against boxers so McGregor shouldnt go in there lookin like one. his mma approach to boxing might not work on Floyd but lookin like a boxer would do him no favors.

There isn't one strict boxing stance that boxers use. There's nothing that Conor can do in the confines of boxing that's gonna surprise Floyd (or really any top boxer).

Props to Conor for getting this fight but he'd get washed in boxing by any of Floyd's 147lb opponents. Let's be real here .. if Conor, a white Irish guy with that kind of mouthpiece, had the talent he had in MMA for boxing .. he'd be boxing. The amount of money a guy like that with a real skill level can make in boxing is ridiculous.

It's 2 different sports man. Whatever he does in MMA with his hands is not going to translate to a boxing ring against a top opponent. Even this amazing power people are claiming, I'd find it hard to believe that Conor is cracking harder than Mosley or Canelo in the ring.

If Mc by chance did win, I will laugh at boxing forever and never watch it again
That's retarded. Floyd is 40 years old coming out of retirement.

He's still going to easily beat McGregor but if by some crazy chance McGregor did the unbelievable, by some crazy miracle did beat Floyd, it would be because of exactly that - some insanely lucky shot. Never would happen just saying.

"Mayweather sucks all he does is run! He's lucky he didn't fight when Mike Tyson was fighting!"

That's casual fight fans. Literally no concept of weight classes let alone skills. I've heard a lot of non Boxing fans talking about this, had a guy at my company talking about "Marrie-weather better be careful because McGregor has power that he has never seen before". I'm just like

I think it's going to do crazy numbers. They are usually really good at being accurate as to what kind of PPVs will be sold and the money generated. They are talking about this doing 400 million or so, a bit less than the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight ($600m+) but pretty close. I think it will do similar numbers buy not break the record. Which is obviously insane numbers.
