Of course. It would be idiotic not to. It not, McGregor could do a round house kick out of no where first round, KO Floyd, and walk away with $100m while getting all the praise for "trolling" Floyd/Boxing/whoever is promoting the show? Why wouldn't he do that if no repercussions? Oh he would get a DQ on his boxing record? Get suspended for boxing? lol. He would only be praised by his fans. Floyd is smarter than that and it's something anyone should do in the same position.
I know. My "LMAO" was for the fact that this fight is such a circus they need special contract provisions for "MMA moves".

It would have made more money if Mayweather fought Conor in MMA.
The only problem is that it wouldn't last longer than 60 seconds.

At least now we will see 5 or 6 rounds, if not more...

Good for both of them. I do think the event will bomb though.
How would it make more money in MMA? There has never been a UFC fight where a fighter made anything close to this kind of money. What is the highest UFC purse, like $3 million or something like that? Dana White said the biggest payday someone got in UFC was $5 million, but wouldn't disclose who that actually was (Lesner? McGregor?). That's undercard money in some boxing PPVs.

The way boxing can and usually is structured is the vast majority of the money goes to the actual main event fighters, and the rest is split by the cable/satellite distributors and a small percentage to the promoters (Mayweather vs Canelo for example did astronomical numbers, yet Golden Boy Promotions only made like $2.5m and that PPV sold 2.2m PPVs).

The only way it could be an MMA fight is under UFC and they just can't pay Floyd the kind of money he would require since the pay structure is completely different. So if you're thinking it would sell more PPVs as a UFC fight vs a boxing fight, even if that were true which is debatable, they wouldn't be able to pay him $75-$100+ million or whatever the crazy bare minimum required would be. I'm sure UFC/Dana White would never want to do that since the result would be a lot of fighters wanting a lot more percentage of PPVs which means less money going back into the company/sport.

Plus, this is what Conor wanted. He's said he wanted to box Floyd, challenged him and eventually got it. Conor was also an amateur boxer before getting into MMA so he at least has an amateur background. Floyd was never an amateur wrestler or anything else other than boxing since he was old enough to put on some gloves.

Although its not the biggest mockery in combat sports history, it can lead up to it. Who knows what the purses are, (which can indicate how much the ppv cost will be), how many rounds will it be or how are the rounds structured, drug testing, the quality of the undercards, (all TMT fighters will fight scrubs lets be real here), and the fans. I think the buyers will be mainly MMA fans and that's gonna be annoying as hell! Most boxing fans and boxers actually tell reporters not to ask them about the fight and they won't watch it. So yeah its pretty staged aand annoying already

In a sport who's history includes white champions being allowed not fight good black fighters, fight fixing, Panama Lewis/Luis Resto, mafia influenced matchmaking, people getting beat to death in the ring due to poor officiating, incompetent/corrupt judging on a nearly regular basis, champions being able to avoid tough fights for years and still make millions fighting scrubs, etc etc .. this is nowhere close to or leading to making a mockery of the sport.

Boxing is by far my favorite sport to watch, but there's no need to play the fool and pretend there's not already a lot of fuckery involved in the sport.

Boxing will always be the superior sport and this fight will be the male version of holm/nunes V rousey lol

If you are a boxer and can evade grapples, throws and take downs, you nullify the ground game then what is left?

them mma gloves dont block as much either.
Nope, they do not. And this fight will have 10oz gloves, which is normal for anything above 147 pounds but at 154 they have an option to use 8oz (as was the case for Pacquiao vs Margarito, for example), although I don't think Floyd ever wore 8oz gloves for any of his fights at 154 (pretty sure he did 10oz against Oscar, Canelo and Cotto).

I would imagine Conor would have preferred 8oz gloves, bit he probably had to do everything Floyd wanted, which makes sense since this is boxing and McGregor has no accomplishments in the sport obviously.

I would put an in prime mike tyson in the octogon with any mma fighter in history
and he would get single legged by anybody with even the slightest bit of wrestling.

Remember Randy Couture vs. James Toney (obviously both of them were way out of their prime). Couture damn near crawled to grab a single leg. He didn't go anywhere near Toney's hands and Toney didn't even have a punchers chance. Looked lost the moment Couture changed levels and dropped for the takedown.

Put a Prime Tyson with no takedown defense and only boxing in a cage with somebody like Cain Velasquez and he would get mauled.

Don't use James Tony as an example. Just makes you look bad because Toney was old fat, completely shot and slurring his words badly. Couture on the other hand was a Bernard Hopkins of the UFC - a guy who stayed in great shape all the time and fought very well into old age. Toney was absolutely beyond shot, not simply "past prime" he was literally a shot fighter. It was disgraceful how Dana White allowed such bullshit. Anyone who spent 30 seconds talking to Toney quickly realized his brain was a scrambled mess.

Now with that said, of course your point stands and the guy you're responding too is a troll, that's why no one else replies to him.

I do think prime Tyson could take out a few people thoigh just because he could probably land a shot on sw guys before they take him to the ground, he was a special case of freak of nature.

The point wasn't really who was in the fight, it was more so about the level changes wrestlers do. You're literally on your back before you even realize what is going on if you're not trained in wrestling. That's why most pure strikers in the UFC will spend most of their training camp bringing in wrestlers solely to tighten up their takedown defense. It's way easier said then done to land even one punch on a wrestler if you have zero wrestling training.

and to be fair with Toney and Couture, the last time Couture looked good in a fight was 3 years before he fought Toney. Couture definitely wasn't shot like Toney, but Couture still respected Toney's hands and wanted nothing to do with them. He didn't even attempt a double leg take down for fear of his hands, he went straight up outstretched single leg lol

There's a big difference in past prime vs being shot and Couture was obviously a veteran fighter who was still good enough to win his previous two fights before Toney. He was physically and mentally fit, fat ass Toney however was at retard status at that point, his reaction time was non existent so again it's just not a good example to use at all. A shot fighter is a shot fighter and that was the main reason Toney even took that fight, he was struggling to find any meaningful paydays in boxing because everyone knew he was shot.

(just look how sad toney's physique looked in comparison to a ripped Couture)

Sad thing is he's still fighting in some casino rooms in Mississippi and other dumps, probably for $5,000, losing to guys with 15-20 losses on their records.

Of course though, a wrestler or anyone with a good take down game would be smart to try to immediately take down a good striker or in this case a boxer and would almost always be successful. Just like any boxer would KO a wrestler in the sport of boxing or whatever. I don't think in 2017 there are many people left who don't understand this simple concept, besides a few knuckle draggers who don't know any better.

clinch woulda gave him problems too. big guys aint typically doin muay thai but these dudes under welter and these chicks typically all got decent muay thai clinch. and some of them will chop that ass down from outside the pocket. muay thai in/outside the pocket is muay thai in/outside the pocket. but muay thai clinch in mma is more brutal than in a pure muay thai match.

Balrog only used his hands.
