With everything taken into account (namely the weight differential and pushing in age), Golovkin fought ok. I wasn't scoring the fight, but intuitively it was a close call to me. A draw/win for GGG sounds fair imo. With that said, I thought there were a couple opportunities for Golovkin to pounce on Jacobs, but considering he had such a disadvantage in weight against an athletic and dangerous fighter, I can understand why he was as conservative tonight as probably ever. Would love to see it again though

Same here. I really didn't understand why he didn't work the body, which is usually a big part of his game, but maybe it had to do with how Jacobs was fighting and the angles he was giving him, not sure, but there were numerous times he had Jacobs on the ropes that I thought were perfect times to go downstairs. He was either a bit flat today during the middle rounds or like you said just being too conservative. Maybe he thought he was winning by a large enough margin to play it safe bit I never like that strategy since you can never assume yo know how the judges have it or what could happen at any given time.

I watched the fight live, and thought Jacobs won if not a draw. Box Azteca had jacobs winning by three rounds. I think he got robbed to be honest. GGG really didn't do shit. The knock down was not that impressive either cuz it's not like he hurt Jacobs. He just caught him off balance. So if box nation and Box azteca had jacobs winning, then it's obvious that the higher ups want Canelo vs GGG to happen.

Big shocker!

Nah for real, if Box Azteca had Jacobs by three rounds the person scoring is either hella biased or doesn't know how to score. There is no way Jacobs could win by three points especially with a knockdown in there.

Again I think some people were surprised Golovkin wasnt destroying him so they scored Jacobs on a curve (he's doing better than expected therefore he won the round).

I could see a narrow win for Golovkin or a draw. Can't really see how anyone could score it for Jacobs, maaaayyybbbeee one point for Jacobs but that's stretching it and would have to mean every close round goes to Jacobs.

Regardless, I'd like to see a rematch, clearly they are the two best middleweights and it was entertaining, unless of course Canelo is willing to fight Golovkin right after Chavez this year (September??).

You know how you would post up pics and talk about how JCC Sr would call GGG his son and all that bullshit. Well, he was one of the commentators of the fight and he also called it a robbery. There was no biased.

Like I said if not biased then they don't know how to score if they had Jacobs winning be three points. If they had Jacobs by a round, ok sure.

Think about it - in order for Jacobs to win by three points that would have to mean he won 8 rounds and Golovkin only 4, because Jacobs loses a point for the knockdown. lol there is no possible way Golovkin only won 4 rounds. So like I said, either biased or their scoring is beyond retarded.

I just watched the entire fight. Clear 115-112 for GGG and that was being generous to Jacobs.
So in order to score it for Jacobs it would have to be beyond generous. Like I was saying to Battle if I really stretch my imagination I could see a draw at best for Jacobs or stretch even more and one point victory for Jacobs, but that would be dishonest with the knockdown. If battle or Azteca had Jacob by three points that would mean Jacobs won 8 rounds GGG 4, which is insanity territory.

This happens all the time in fights like this. Look Floyd/Maidana I for example.

People go into the fight thinking GGG's a killer and Jacobs does a lot of good work throughout the fight so they naturally give Jacobs those rounds. It's not that he necessarily won those rounds, but he's doing better than people expected him too so they're giving him those rounds.

Exactly. Happens all the time, the one that immediately jumped into my mind was Eric Morales vs Maidana. Everyone was so surprised Morales, who was viewed as a completely shot fighter at the time, was doing good and it was competitive. Everyone thought Maidana was going to kill him I remember controversy leading up to the fight iirc it was supposed to be a title fight but because of public backlash they took the title off the. After the fight people were saying it was an obvious robbery and Morales won, sure he showed tremendous heart fighting with one eye but heart doesn't win rounds. That's a much more extreme example but it's similar in the sense that Golovkin has been destroying everyone and not many people gave Jacobs a chance, so any close round or round where Jacobs did something good they score it for Jacobs. They are scoring on a curve.

Close fight, but I thought Jacob's edged it.
Sure I can rewatch it and change my mind, but I don't care that much.
Just upon initial viewing I thought he deserved the win. I read about how people think Golovkin won the fight (a lot of Jacobs shots hitting glove and forearm) and maybe they are right.

So, you are telling me that InfamousIcon has a better judgement of boxing over JCC Sr? I didn't say Jacobs won the fight by x amount of rounds because I didn't score the fight, but I just saw the fight for the third time and I still can't see how Jacobs lost. There's a reason why there is a high demand for a rematch rather than GGG going for Saunders because maybe the second time around there won't be no biased towards GGG.

I see it totally different. This was just a unique fight. One of a kind type of fight. each round was extremely hard to score because from beginning to end, except for round 4, we couldn't tell who was in control. In some eyes, GGG cut the ring well, and in others Jacobs fought superb on the outside and "out-boxed" GGG. Unlike Kovalev vs Ward, Kovalev gave in to Wards' style which probably caused him the fight. But this fight was just 2 great boxers where they gave the rounds to the champ.

I've seen plenty of brilliant boxers score fights all sorts of retarded ways, from Mayweather to Foreman to now JCC Sr.

Ok give me 7 rounds that Jacobs won. If you've watched three times you should be able to say which 7 rounds Jacobs won.

There is high demand for a rematch for the same reasons Mayweather rematched Maidana - it was a good competitive fight. Doesn't mean Maidana won.

I can accept this post, but you seem to admit it's hard to score and depends largely on what the person scoring is impressed more by, so that should indicate you're fine with the decision, right? What I hate is when I see people scream robbery but then say rounds are hella hard to score and can go either way (you didn't do this I'm just saying i read people making these kinds of statements on otjer forums).

I'd like to see a rematch next if the Canelo fight can't happen yet. I think if Canelo is available he must take it, for so many reasons, but Jacobs fought with a lot of heart and should get a rematch, just like Maidana against Floyd (different styles completely but both fought with a lot of passion). It's just Canelo is a more important fight and Golovkin isn't getting any younger, he turns 35 in a few weeks (April 8th). I think he wants Canelo/Jacobs/Saunders then retire, although I haven't heard Golovkin say it just hinted the time is near.

Who thinks Canelo whoops GGG now? lol
Probably a lot more people. Though they always forget STYLES MAKE FIGHTS and Canelo isn't a 6'1 180 pound middleweight who boxes, uses the entire ring, jabs and sticks and moves like Jacobs on Saturday night, so it really doesn't matter how Golovkin looked. It's like saying Canelo vs Amir Khan is an indication of how he'll do against Chavez jr. Totally different kinds of fights. It would be such a dramatically different kind of fight. Canelo is a counter puncher by nature and will trade toe to toe with anyone when push comes to shove, so this fight will have real fireworks with serious power punches landed by both guys. I've always maintained it will be a banger with Fight of the Year potential. Thats a major reason why the boxing world wanted this fight to happen May of last year - it was to be the antithesis to the flop that was Mayweather vs Pacquiao (as far as action goes).

No matter what happens, Canelo vs Golovkin is exactly what boxing needs right now. Would have been better last year, but 2017 has so many great fights it puts 2016 to shame, so in that sense, it's not bad to delay the fight till this year since the constancy of good solid fights will be basically all year long. They can both swim in pools of hundred dollars bills after the the PPV too.

As far as Jacobs he needs to use this momentum and get back in the ring ASAP. He earned the respect of boxing fans around the world so take advantage of that. The worst thing he can do is sit on the sidelines for a year like we've seen so many other fighters do in the past. He may not be able to get an immediate rematch with Golovkin because of reasons discussed below, but he can use this positivity to advance his career. Ending Golovkins 23 knockout win streak alone gets respect, and winning rounds and being in a very competitive, close fight throughout is a big accomplishment for him. A Hopefully he can stay active, get right back into ring.

K2 had been planning and working on a fight for June in Kazakhstan for the final middleweight title, the WBO belt which is owned by Billy Joe Saunders. We all know GGG longtime goal has been to unify all the major belts in the division - WBA, WBO, IBF, WBC and The Ring belt. He has just one more to go and Saunders apparently is willing to fight him in Kazakhstan so can't really blame them if that's what happens next. And of course they want Canelo after that in September. So if that all happens and obviously Jacobs wont get an immediate rematch so again he needs to stay active. But if Saunders bitches out again which he might considering he already turned down Golovkin twice, as well as turning down Jacobs last year, then Jacobs may just get that immediate rematch after all.

Btw, Hopkins is the only man in middleweight to unify all fove major belts, Golovkin if he beats Saunders will be one of three people in all of boxing in any division to do the same:

Hopkins and his five belts (six including the IBO which no one considers as a legit belt but Golovkin has this one as well).
