Tuning in for Sammy Vasquez Jr., Erickson Lubin , Gilberto Ramirez ---even though all their opponents look pretty soft - not many ko's on their resume and 1 or 2 losses.

I'll catch the replay of Stevenson, and the Rigondeaux fights.

Return of Mikey Garcia -that' could be a big deal.

Frampton / Santa Cruz and Crawford / Postol are the big fights I see.

Wilder and Kovalev title defenses.

Not a bad month per se. Not bad at all to me.

So many good fights this month..

Lipinets & Nyambayar (Olympic silver medalist in 2012) both in separate fights on ESPN. Both excellent amateurs that are getting fast tracked in the pros.

Vijender Singh an Indian Olympian (won bronze one year) is taking a huge step up against Kerry Hope. If Singh can make it as a pro he'll be crazy popular. Just what he did in the amateurs made him a star in India.

Wake Vs. Guzman for the vacant title should be real good and Ioka is on the same card - against soft comp though.

Derevyanchenko Vs. Soliman with Khytrov on the card on ESPN.

Not to mention the big fights + all the other dope prospects in action. And Arum again is burying Gvozdyk & Kavaliauskas on a random card that probably won't be aired anywhere.

Sergey Kovalev vs. Isaac Chilemba on deck.

Chilemba is underrated, definitely no tune up. I think he's a good opponent to get ready for Ward. Kinda has a style somewhat similar to Hopkins and Ward, he can probably frustrate Kovalev and make him look bad in spots. I'll be very impressed if Kovalev knocks him out early.

A lot of people thought he should have got the decision against Eleider Alvarez, same goes for Tony Bellew in the UK, I mean anytime you get a draw in someone's backyard its usually a good indication.

Anyways, he doesn't have much power so that will likely be his downfall against Kovalev - if he can't get his respect it's going to be a big problem. Still, I reckon he'll go rounds and look good.

As for Ward's opponent, now that really is a tune up that is a complete waste of time. I'd imagine sparring partners in the gym will do better work than 40 year old Alexander Brand. But fuck it, as long as he fights Kovalev after as planned then I don't really care.

That being said, I'm not a huge fan of a guy coming off a loss getting a shot at unified 3 belt champion.

I did think he beat Bellew the first time around but Bellew beat him clean the second go around and for what it's worth I thought Alvarez edged him too which is probably why I'm not a fan of him getting the fight. If it would've been an outright robbery it'd be different.

Reading Kovalev didn't look too good against Chilemba. Got a wide decision win but lots of people had it very close. Doesn't make me confident he'll beat Ward but I'll have to watch this fight later and see for myself.

Well if you didn't turn it on immediately you missed Nyambayar blowing out Vazquez in one.

He was hit a little too much trying to go for the finish but it was his first TV fight.

I also think Teddy was wrong about Vazquez being down a bunch of times. This is the description I found of the fight that he lost to the 3-6 fighter Teddy kept talking about where he said Vazquez hit the deck in that fight

"Extremely close bout, somewhat difficult to score, but the 3-6 Collado came into the ring in top condition and fought a rough war from start to finish on the inside, just barely managing to outwork Vazquez on the inside to score a hard fought split decision upset. Noted New York judge Julie Lederman thought Rafael Vazquez won the bout. Neither fighter hurt or in trouble, clean bout throughout, refereed by Eddie Claudio."

I didn't see the fight with Collado so maybe he did go down. I don't remember Kielczewski putting him down his last fight either.

I didn't realize this but Big Nipples last fight in December was changed to a No Contest:

Arreola's Majority decision win was overturned to ND No-Decision, as Arreola tested positive for marijuana use and failed the post fight drug test. Arreola was subsequently suspended by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for 90 days, through March 18, 2016, and fined $750 of his $125,000 purse. It was the second time Arreola tested positive for marijuana, the other time being after his July 2011 points win over Friday Ahunanya.

I think Diaz in MMA needs to fight exclusively in Texas, Arreola got a slap on the wrist for weed. lol @ $750 fine for his second failed test that's nothing in comparison
