Weights are in! Too many taco's on May 2nd!

Humberto Soto 142.5 and Frankie Gomez 147.5 LOL this fight was contracted at a catchweight of 141 pounds. Both overweight but Frankie pulled a Joan Guzman god damn!!! He was off by a mile.

Canelo vs Kirkland both 154.5

And for the PBC card, Figueroa also heavy, the CBS show will go on. Figueroa came in at 141.5, Burns came in at 139.2.

WTF is up with everyone missing weight? And for some reason it seems to happen with every PBC card.

no wonder Kirkland said fuck that, Ann Wolfe a gangsta lmao

look at this shit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDslGreqL48

Jesus. Seems pretty fucking rough. Then again, I remember seeing some pretty hardcore shit in some old Russian military training videos, basically beating the shit out of guys. Makes em tough as nails I guess.

I respect Wolfe. I might not understand and/or agree with all her methods but she's a tough woman who grew up tough and has been to hell and back.

As far as Kirkland goes, all I know is them two together produced good results. We all know what happened the one fight he didn't train with her. Maybe he made the smart decision going with this new team, maybe he didn't. We'll find out soon enough. But I have this bad feeling that were going to see a more cerebral Kirkland in the ring against Canelo, a guy who's thinking and trying to be a tactician. I don't think that fits him, certainly not against Canelo, he needs to be a machine, a monster. But we'll see!

Wow they cancelled the Frankie Gomez fight! Being 6 pounds overweight was too much. What a shame.

Golden Boy VP Disgusted, Upset with Frankie Gomez

by David P. Greisman

Frankie Gomez could’ve had a huge spotlight on HBO on Saturday night. Now not only has his fight with Humberto Soto been canceled, but his promoter is incredibly upset at how that occurred.

Gomez-Soto was to be the televised co-feature underneath Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland. That broadcast was to bed led off with the replay of last week’s Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight, meaning even more people could be watching Gomez-Soto when the live show began.

Except Gomez got sick two weeks ago, didn’t tell Golden Boy Promotions until earlier this week, had the weight limit raised from 141 to 145 pounds, and still came in at 147.5, unable to drop down any further.

Eric Gomez, the vice president and head matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, said he was “very disgusted” and “upset” with Frankie Gomez.

“This spot, this position in-between these two fights was a golden ticket,” Eric Gomez said. “We could’ve put any fighter we wanted. If we would’ve known two weeks ago that he was sick and not responsive, that he was really heavy and wasn’t going to make weight, we would’ve considered maybe doing something else. We’ve got a lot of young prospects. … We have at least 20 other fighters that would’ve killed to be in that spot.”

This isn’t the first time Frankie Gomez has done something disappointing. While undefeated at 18-0 with 13 KOs, the product of East Los Angeles — also where Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya is from — faced a pair of criminal cases in early 2012.

“The kid’s very talented. We’re going to have to sit down with his team and decide what we want to do,” Eric Gomez said. “Oscar’s upset, obviously.”

Canelo better beat up Kirkland early. If James is not beat up by the 3rd Canelo will be in a war. If Wolfe was with Kirkland I would ride with him, but I think will be too much for him with the long layoff. If Canelo losses GBP will be almost done. Plus PBC thank you boxing God's.

Real good opening fight with McDonnell Vs. Kameda. I will say they try to say it was boxing politics that stripped Kameda and stopped the unification. The problem is the fucking WBA and their nonsense belts.

The WBO wouldn't allow a "unification" with McDonnell cause Payano is the actual WBA bantamweight champion and McDonnell has a "secondary" title. It's a good fight and I'm glad it was made, but it was never a unification.

It's the same reason Scott Quigg Vs. Carl Frampton wouldn't be a unification fight if it ever happened, because Quigg doesn't have a real belt.

Yeah it was really a fight with a lot of close rounds when it looked like Kameda was gonna dominate the fight. I thought he won the first 3 rounds with a 10-8 in the 3rd from a knockdown but every round from there was real close with McDonnell getting the edge in most of them.

Would've been fine with a close Kameda win too, it was that kind of fight.

Its obvious Figueroa has this ref on the payroll. Fight in his home state, 22 miles from where he grew up. Ref takes 2 points away for "holding". Doesnt attempt to break up the clinches just pushes Burns arms off Figueroa. I mean how one sided could a ref be?

Only reason Laurence Cole is even in boxing is because his dad is Dickie Cole. He's always been terrible and no way should he be officiating fights in any capacity much less in major fights.

Here's him telling Juan Manuel Marquez years ago that he was ahead on the cards so he wouldn't continue fighting and win a TD. Luckily Marquez isn't a bitch and kept going and eventually stopped Jaca.
