Everybody knows GGG ain't shit. Speaking of hype job from HBO... GGG=HYPE JOB
All the fans (and fighters) who spend use all this extra energy talking down on GGG, should redirect their words towards the 160 pounders who don't even want to stand in the same room with him---Encourage these guys to get in there and expose this 1 dimensional---no tricks--straight forward--No resume having--HBO hype job motherfucker.

A Golovkin DEFEAT is the only thing that CAN convince those people who have the nerve to believe he's actually a great fighter. And there's only one way to defeat him---You have to actually fight him. Not tweet about him. Not talk about him in your post fight interview.

I suggest you take to Danny Jacobs, Saul Alvarez, Billy Jo Saunders, Chris Eubank, Miguel Cotto's Twitter pages with the same Fire and condemnation you bring to youtube comments and boxing forums.

Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Smith Jr set for December 17th.

One last show for Hopkins! It's only fitting he picks a big puncher for his farewell fight. He's made his bread and butter beating guys like this so hopefully he can pull it off one last time and ride off into the sunset with a W.

I was surprised that Wlad was even considering fighting Joshua. Fight seems in jeopardy atm
Same here, I was thinking Joshua by KO.

What a shame about Tyson Fury though. I never thought he was some amazing fighter or anything but the guy knew how to sell fights and so many interesting potential fights - Fury vs Joshua, Fury vs Wilder, Fury vs David Haye, Fury vs Ortiz. Hopefully he gets his shit together.

Hopefully we can still get Wilder vs Joshua at some point, preferably in 2017.

J-Rocc vs. Jermall. SOunds too good to be true, someone's gonna get hurt in training camp and have to pull out.

Charlo-Williams, Cuellar-Mares, Promoted By Schaefer, on Dec. 10

By Edward Chaykovsky

Ringstar Sports, which is the new company run by former Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, has finalized a Premier Boxing Champions doubleheader for December 10th at USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. Tom Brown of TGB Promotions is the co-promoter of the event.

Two titles fights will take place on the card. Former three division champion Abner Mares will finally collide with WBA 'regular' featherweight champion Jesus Cuellar in the main event. The co-feature, is the long awaited fight between International Boxing Federation super welterweight champion Jermall Charlo and mandatory challenger Julian Williams.

The card will be Schaefer's first boxing event since leaving Golden Boy back in June of 2014. Schaefer announced his return to the sport a few months ago.

charlo-williams-1_2

Schaefer's debut of Ringstar was first pegged to take place on October 15th, with a rumored fight between Danny Garcia and Andre Berto in the main event at Staples Center, but the fight never came together with Garcia deciding to go in another direction.

Mares vs. Cuellar was originally set for June 25 in Brooklyn as part of the Keith Thurman-Shawn Porter undercard. The fell out at the last minute when the New York State Athletic Commission refused to give Mares medical clearance to fight - because of an issue with his medical history. The NYSAC is very strict when it comes to approving any fighter to compete when they've had eye surgery in the past.

Back in 2008, Mares had a detached retina and underwent a lasik procedure for his right eye. The California State Athletic Commission has evaluated Mares' health and vision through a series of exams.

“To do my first event from Galen Center is very meaningful because while I’ve been out, I’ve sent my two boys to USC, and these are the kinds of events I like to put together – two 50/50 fights in which the best fight the best,” Schaefer told The Los Angeles Times.

Ah gotta love the network/promoter Fanboys! Still never understand the logic of cheering for a boxing manager or a network instead of the actual fights.

Anyways, HBO has problems and PBC have their own problems. HBOs biggest problem, by far, is budget cuts for boxing. That decreases the amount of cards and any decent sized event that requires more than a few million results in PPVs (Canelo vs Khan/Smith, Golovkin vs Lemeuix, Crawford vs Postol, etc).

PBC has had a huge list of problems, which they've recently admitted to and said they learned from their past mistakes and will make a lot of changes in 2017, so it's good to hear them admit what they were doing wasn't working well. $500 million spent on very little.

I'd like to see this change asap:

Haymon Fighter Activity in 2016:

This is unacceptable imo. So many fighters, so little of them actually fight and worse, the best rarely fight the best (frampton vs santa cruz is a good example of what they should be doing with all their fighters like thurman vs garcia etc etc) and a lot of these guys have tune-up fights which should not happen when thry fight so little. Most of the boxing world agrees they've been very underwhelmed with PBC thus far so we need to see the above change in 2017. The inactivity, especially among their biggest names needs to stop.

Starting with Garcia vs Thurman would be a big step in the right direction. But rather than following the old formula that wasn't working, they should follow that up immediately with Thurman/Garcia vs Errol Spence. The momentum they get from a big fight needs to continue on rather than letting guys sit for a year. I think if they do that they have the potential to finally bring PBC to where they originally envisioned.
PBC on Showtime

Dec 11th Jesus Cuellar vs. Abner Mares
Jan 14th Jack vs. DeGale for the #1 guy at 168lb.
Jan. 28th Frampton vs. Santa Cruz rematch and Mickey Garcia vs. Dejan Zlaticanin
Feb 11th Adrien Broner vs. Adrian Granados
March 14th Thurman vs. Danny Garcia

Plus PBC haven't release their Spike,FS1,CBS, etc.. fight card dates yet. Lol. So much for PBC running out of money and going away like Fat Dan and Jim Lampley were talking about a few weeks ago. Wow and none of those fights will be on PPV but keeping acting like HBO are not making shit fights. Big Al Haymon with the win again on all the haters. Will K2 finally close a deal to get GGG a real fight with Jacobs, or will they do there normal low ball offer so he can fight another bum for HBO to hype up. lol After the Brooks fight no one believes that hype anymore Mr. anyone from 154lb-168lb but not Canelo at 155-157lb or Ward at 168lb.

This is a 50/50 Jrock vs. Charlo I can't wait for this one.

All of those fights with exception to one is in 2017 lol. That's exactly what I was talking about (PBC in 2016 vs 2017 (new/smarter strategy). PBC admitted they made a lot of mistakes in 2016 and are going to make major changes for 2017, not sure why you can't at least acknowledge the same. As I stated, I want to see good fights, I literally don't care about managers or promoters or networks, there are a lot of PBC fights I want to see happen and Garcia vs Thurman is a great start.

Golovkin is trying to sign to fight Jacobs right now. The hold up is Jacobs. First he said he wanted another fight first, then he made it about money. K2 even requested the WBA postpone the purse bid since the WBA purse bid split is 75/25 in favor of the super champion (Golovkin) meaning K2 is trying to avoid that so Jacobs can get a better deal (more money). Whether or not this fight is on PPV all depends on how much Jacobs is demanding. If he has a realistic value (around $2m or so), it will be on regular HBO, if he's asking for something unrealistic, it will have to be on PPV.

So is PBC dead or not?

Did PBC have more shows and better fights then HBO in 2016?

This is just some of the PBC fights that you might have missed in 2016 because you were too busy watching your HBO mismatches.

Thruman vs. Porter could be fight of year
Danny Garcia vs. Guerrero nice fight
Fonfara vs. Smith Jr you know the guy that you're hyping up B-Hop for fighting
Spence jr vs. Bundu/Chris A two guys that have never been KO'ed before Errol beat them down.
Santa Cruz vs. Frampton 1 could be fight of year
Lara vs. Martirosyan 2-I know you used to love Vanes
Rodriguez vs. Willams Jr Fight of the year
Stevenson vs. Willams Jr KO of the year
Ortiz vs. Berto 2 great knockdown uppercut
Frampton vs. Quigg-damn good fight
Charlo vs. Trout-damn good fight
Provodnikov vs. Molina Jr -a war
Payano vs. Warren 2-damn good fight
Jack vs. Bute -a war
Wilder is always in a great fight

PBC has been doing a damn good job with all of boxing and the boxing media trying to hate on them all along the way. PBC are the one putting on the great fights but let the PBC haters tell it they're killing boxing. lol

Who made that claim? I didn't say anything close to that so you're inventing something to argue about. My posts were pretty cut and dry - shitty 2016, hope for better 2017.

Making up more stuff? lol I watched all of the fights you mentioned, but go right a head cheerleading a boxing manager you weirdo

Thruman vs. Porter could be fight of year
Danny Garcia vs. Guerrero nice fight
Fonfara vs. Smith Jr you know the guy that you're hyping up B-Hop for fighting
When did I hype Smith you mental midget? I said Hopkins has made his bread an butter beating guys like Smith. Glad to see the good old "completely make shit up" strategy of yours hasn't disappeared!

Spence jr vs. Bundu/Chris A two guys that have never been KO'ed before Errol beat them down.
I literally said in my post getting Spence in-between Olympic events was the smartest thing PBC has done thus far, getting him a whopping 6 million viewers on NBC.

Santa Cruz vs. Frampton 1 could be fight of year
Lara vs. Martirosyan 2-I know you used to love Vanes
Ah yes, Vanes, the fighter i constantly says sucks and that I don't like. This is absolutely a perfect example of how PBC did poorly in 2016 - no one wanted to see Lara vs Vanes II. It was matchmaking like this as to why PBC said they made mistakes and want to improve in 2017.

Then why is that PBC said themselves they made mistakes in 2016 and didn't deliver a good enough product and are going to make big improvements in 2017? It's like the mental giant bigface can't understand constructive criticism and that everything boils down to being a "hater" or being a fan. What I said in my posts were the problems they had in 2016 and what I would like to see improved for 2017, that's it.

Not sure why you keep bringing up HBO, they have their own problems which boils down to big boxing budget cuts every year. My assumption is boxing will not even be on HBO in 5 years or so if these trends continue.

In my opinion, PBC is pretty much dead. All their fights coming up are On a premium channel and we still won't know who the best are because Al Haymon holds back too many of his fighters. These fights were all supposed to be for free and now it looks like pbc is a real promo company when they are not. It's pretty sad if you ask me

Dan Rafael chat wrap 11/4:

Pacquiao vs. Vargas:
- Not much buzz in Vegas for Pacquiao vs. Vargas. Media presence is less than usual, seems a lot of people don't realize Manny is fighting.
- PPV prediction for Pacquiao vs. Vargas? In the 200k's.
- Pacquiao gets a percentage of the PPV's, but he also has a guarantee of $4 million.
- If Vargas were to win tomorrow, could definitely see a Vargas vs. Crawford fight.
- Roach says he could see Pacquiao vs. Canelo, thoughts? Bad night for Manny.
- Believes both favorites (Pacquiao and Donaire win), but thinks Donaire has the more likely chance to be upset.
- If Donaire wins tomorrow, would strongly consider him for the HOF.
- Who would Pacquiao fight next if he wins? Floyd rematch talk will certainly occur (as rumors), Crawford, or potentially a Haymon fighter.
- Shiming brings in Asian media to the Pacquiao fight. He was a fighter Steve Wynn wanted on the card as he brings in Asian gamblers.
- Supposedly ticket sales are very good.
- Arum loves the idea of a Pacquiao vs. Lomachenko fight. He said maybe at 138. Personally doubts Pacquiao would drop down that far. The fights isn't impossible, but wouldn't believe it until we saw it.
- Better storyteller: Arum or Don King? Arum by far.
- Thoughts on Steven A. Smith calling the fight? He knows about boxing, is polarizing, may be right to be concerned on the undercard fights, at the end of the day will be entertaining.
- Broner wanted a guarantee of $6 million, while Pacquiao's guarantee is $4 million. One of the problems in boxing right now.
- Donaire is making $400k and Magdaleno $90k.
- Arum and Donaire have wanted to be on a Pacquiao card previously, but Koncz vetoed the idea. Koncz thought Donaire brought no extra money (attracting the same Filipino fans as Manny) and would have cost a lot to put on the card, taking money out of Pacquiao's pocket. Donaire believes Koncz doesn't like him due to not signing with him and remaining loyal to Cameron Dunkin.
- Shiming's opponent looks like Manny and everyone there calls him mini-Manny. Expects Shiming to win.
- Thought the ref should have stopped the fights in Manny vs. Margarito and Algieri.
- People who he usually sits next to on PPV's are Iole from Yahoo, Dahlberg from AP, and a local writer from whatever city.
- A journalists seat placement is usually determined by readership numbers.

The rest of boxing:
- Bob Arum clarified that when he previously said Felix Diaz makes bad fights, he was going off of info provided by his matchmakers (who he relies on a lot). He personally said he has never seen Diaz fight.
- Prime RJJ vs. Ward? RJJ.
- Would give an organ to see prime Ricardo Lopez vs. Chocolatito.
- Froch vs. Stevenson at 168? Pick'em fight.
- Co-feature for Crawford's fight? Probably Juan Diaz vs. Ray Beltran.
- Briggs is going to fight Browne in a title fight. Briggs is massively undeserving and his ranking is a farce.
- Depending on the timing Showtime may show more than just the main event (Joshua-Molina). They may show Chisora-Whyte.
- Does he believe Tarver was on PED's vs. RJJ? Not sure, but Tarver has failed two drug tests. Likely those weren't the only two times he was dirty.
- TR wants to make Mike Alvarado vs. Jose Ramirez. Alvarado turned the fight down for December and they are going to try to do it early next year.
- Loeffler told him that he and Haymon are still discussing the GGG vs. Jacobs fight. It is absurd that a "normal" fight should take this long to negotiate.
- Should Garcia be criticized for taking a poor tune up fight before Fighting Thurman? He was healthy and there was no reason he could not have fought earlier. The fight is pure sewage.
- Freddie Roach will train fighters for as long as he can physically do it.
- Good possibility Usyk will be fighting on the Hopkins undercard.
- Only picked Mayweather to lose one fight, vs. Corrales.
- The NY insurance issue will get worked out so boxing shows can be held there. Small club shows will be affected.
- Very surprised if we see Povetkin vs. Stiverne this year.
- Fallout from JuanMa's brawl with the cornerman? Expects a suspension and fine.
- JuanMa vs. Vasquez PPV numbers? Didn't even do 10k in the US.
- Trinidad vs. Terry Norris at 154? Great fight and one King tried to make. Take Tito.
- Has not followed the Rios vs. Ortiz twitter beef. Both are done and basically have no other fight to make that gets them a good purse. It certainly is possible it could happen.
- Thoughts on Ayala Jr. and Ibeabuchi? Bad people who got what they deserved.
- Winner of Charlo vs. Williams fight Canelo next? No chance.
- Historically who ranks higher: Wlad or Vitaly? Wlad. Longer reign, bigger overall fights, and an Olympic gold medal.
- Rematches he wishes would have happened? Lewis-Klitschko, Trinidad-DLH, and Tyson-Douglas.
- Has not heard a location for Broner's fight yet. DC would make sense since he is a good draw there.
- Does he ever get bored with boxing? Sometimes he gets down because it seems like the people in power do everything they can to prevent great fights and they don't pay attention to their customer base. All it takes is a great fight to get excited again.
- Easter Jr. fight likely will be on Spike.
- Shields and Taylor can't hurt getting more interest in women's boxing. Ultimately they need quality opponents and exciting fights to bring people in.

Such a garbage fight to get Zou a title. A rematch against a guy he pretty much blanked the last time out.

I do really want to see Valdez fight + Donaire/Magdaleno.

Also on the undercard Robson Conceicao (2016 gold medalist from Brazil) and Teofimo Lopez (2016 Olympian from Honduras) made their pro debuts and Alexander Besputin (a really good Russian amateur) in his 5th fought 20-4-2 Azael Cosio. Those fights should come up on topranklive.com if they're not on there already.
