The CBS-televised headliner carries even more good news, with the fantastic battle pulling in an average of just over 2.4 million viewers according to the first round of ratings results provided by Nielsen Media Research, making it the most watched bout of 2016 to date.

- Overall, the two-fight telecast averaged more than 2.11 million viewers
- Also generated the largest live boxing gate in the history of the Barclays Center
- Thurman-Porter surpasses when Danny Garcia claimed a vacant welterweight belt with a 12-round victory over Robert Guerrero this past January. Garcia-Guerrero generated roughly 2.3 million viewers in headlining the first edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox in primetime.
- Both fall short to the most viewed PBC event, which came with the inaugural installment last March when Thurman bested Guerrero in the first NBC primetime boxing telecast in 30 years. The bout averaged 3.2 million viewers, peaking at 4 million viewers, making it the most watched televised contest of 2015.

I got excited reading the title but then I read the interview and there are a lot of "buts" in that interview.

“I would like to fight GGG, but"

"Yeah, GGG is on the list but"

“I’m not going to have people force me"

Sounds exactly like something some Puerto Rican said and later some ginger kid. Not gonna hold my breath on this one.

The difference is Canelo can fight anyone he wants to, everyone wants a piece of him but his team chooses business before glory.

GGG has to get rejected by every fighter in and around the division before his team settles for a mandatory.
So he fought the most feared fighters in the 154 lb division, defeats them all, defeats Cotto, and everything is a business move to you? The only business move he did which I did say I was against was the Khan fight. This fight vs Smith is a title fight vs someone who isn't known in the US. Huge risk as far as making it a ppv, which it shouldn't be, and yet everything is to make him look better? Don't forget, it was GBP who gave GGG his first ppv dollars.

That's for guys like you to do. I just want best fights .

Lol what bargaining table? There is no table. Canelo had his WBC belt, lineal crown and his pride on the table and he let another man take it all without even putting up a fight.

Oh and love the argument about "who has Golovkin fought" when you know damn well big name guys like Canelo turned him down. Copy & Paste from document again.
Not really. GGG wants ppv money but his promoter doesn't know how to go about it as far as getting him on a ppv. They've had 3 opportunities to enforce his mandatories and they didn't. So, now on the 4th try the WBC is going to tell Canelo how to handle the situation when all Canelo and GBP are paying big money to them?

lmao!!! How can they force a mandatory when the opponent isn't willing and dropped the belt you imbecile? Force mandatory = Canelo dropping belt. Force mandatory = Cotto threatens to drop belt and actually did days before the Canelo fight.

You can't force guys to fight if they don't want it, not even with a mandatory (as proven by the facts stated above). Real champions like Bernard Hopkins never shied away from mandatories, even if most everyone thought he'd lose. Real chumps like Canelo drop the belt and fight the weakest opponent available and put it on PPV to rip off his fans.

Cotto never threatened to drop the belt. All he said was he was not a true middleweight after the Geale fight but he would still fight GGG. So if that was the case, GGG should have enforced his mandatory position after that. Hed rather take the money instead and allow himself to get skipped for the third time for the cotto canelo fight. If he became a paper champ then, no one would have asked for a GGG canelo fight. Everyone would have asked GGG to move up in weight class a year ago meaning a GGG Ward fight meaning GGG would have bitched out

Why you always lying
Why the fuck you lying
Hmm oh my god
Stop fucking lying

Cotto, you bloody cunt, always said when asked about his mandatory obligation to Golovkin, "nobody dictates Miguel Cotto's career but Miguel Cotto". He repeatedly said the belt wasn't important to him (if he couldn't get what he wanted). Days before the Canelo fight he literally dropped the belt because he tried to weasel his way out of pay the step aside money (he eventually paid it). He was never going to fight Golovkin, that much is clear.

Here's the list of guys he fought at SWW. Jose Cotto, Luciano Cuello, a 91 year old Baldomir, a just as old Lovemore Ndou, Matthew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez, Kermit Cintron who had one 1 fight in 2 years when they fought, old man Mosley (funny that Floyd gets shit for fighting an old Mosley but Canelo fights the guy 2 years later), Josesito Lopez, Austin Trout, Floyd and now the very sought after Liam Smith.

Those are the most feared fighters at SWW? Trout was an excellent fight and a good risk to take, Floyd is a no brainer since he's the biggest money fight around. Lara & Cotto were good fights even though they took place at "middleweight" but let's not pretend like Canelo was out there fighting murderers row @ 154 when he clearly wasn't.

That's the 100% truth. Canelo can fight whoever he'd like and he doesn't have to worry about being rejected or given the runaround because he's the money fighter, but they've decided that's not the route they want to go.

Can't believe Eddie Hearn is getting $4 million+ for Eubank and god knows how much for Golovkin. They pressured Sky Sports and got it. Fight will be in the UK PPV. Goes to show UK has a lot more money in boxing compared to the US right now. Atmosphere will be crazy.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 7/1/16:

- Doesn't disagree with the opinion it could be hard for Eubanks to last 6 rounds vs. GGG.
- GGG could fight Aug. 27, but likely will be Sept. 10.
- Abel Sanchez raves about Gassiev. He has a good chance to beat Lebedev.
- Broner vs. Pacquiao is far from being done because they are unsure what Manny's senate duties will be. Arum says he can make a deal with Haymon on the fight and put a hold on the Oct. 18th date. He is going to the Phillippines next week to find out more of what Manny's schedule is.
- Scored Porter vs. Thurman 115-113 for Thurman. Most people at ringside had it scored the same way.
- Ward vs. Brand isn't a very good fight, but Brand was willing to take the fight on short notice and for short money. There will be no opening fight shown.
- Ortiz vs. Ustinov could possibly land on the Canelo-Smith undercard.
- Canelo vs. Smith will either be in Texas or Vegas.
- Canelo's resume? Outstanding.
- NY is more stringent than other states on medical requirements. Just because Mares was denied a license in NY doesn't mean he couldn't get one elsewhere. Mares did have surgery for a detached retina a few years ago.
- No news on Gamboa.
- No news if Glowacki vs. Usyk will be on US TV. Haymon owns the rights, so it may get on Showtime or Showtime International.
- Fury has provided no medical proof to the media of his injury.
- Doubts Alvarado can get back to be a top level fighter again.
- Shelly Finkle got rid of most his contracts, but still advises Wladimir Klitschko and owns part of Wilder's contract.
- Really liked what he saw from Hurd and Molina didn't impress him.
- Ward vs. Kovalev PPV buys? Maybe 225k. Does not know the financials and how many they need to do to break even.
- Believes both Joshua and Parker will fight one more time and then fight each other, possibly early next year.
- Lafreniere vs. St. Juste was a sick fight (this year) and the crowd in Montreal was going crazy. Pure violence.
- Reid was probably beating Trinidad through 6 rounds and then got destroyed.
- Thoughts on Jacobs saying he wants to fight GGG in a year and a half? He loves Jacobs, but GGG would destroy him. He can continue to defend is JV title and GGG can worry about bigger fish.
- Chocolatito likely getting an HBO fight this September, possibly moving to 115 to fight Cuadras.
- MAB should make the HOF next year. Would love to see Corrales get on the ballot.
- Thoughts on Lubin? Terrific prospect who just needs fights vs. better opponents. Could get a title fight next year.
- PBC a year from now? Definitely won't be on NBC and likely won't be on ESPN.
- Favorite boxing movie? Rocky 3.
- Vargas vs. Salido is still his FOTY.
- Favorite ODH fight? Vargas was great, but probably Mosley 1.
- Would Sanchez or Chavez Sr. go in to the ring and say Mexican's don't fukk around and then wait a year and a half for a fight? No.
- Bradley is off for the summer and TR will look at options for him either late 2016 or early 2017.
- Believes Crawford moves up to WW next year.
- Thought Showtime over called (hype) the action in Thurman-Porter.
- Spence vs. Garcia? Spence.
- Would a prime Paul Williams be the best fighter at 147 right now? Yes.
- Was Spinks vs. Tyson the most terrified he saw a fighter in the ring? Grant looked pretty terrified vs. Lewis. Bruno and Seldon were pretty terrified vs. Tyson.
- Believes Lomachenko will be a HOF'er when he is done.
- Would vote for Sergio Martinez for the HOF, but not Jermain Taylor (Taylor's resume is not very good besides two debatable wins vs. Hopkins).
- Likes Angel Garcia and Garcia knows it is about the show when the cameras are on. Has had many normal conversations with him.

Fat Dan must have changed his scorecard or scored it completely retarded because after five rounds the UK broadcast announced some ringside scores and they said Fat Dan had it 5-0 for Thurman after five rounds and I was thinking to myself what the fuck fight was he watching?! Round two for example was clear as day round for Porter.

Jacobs is annoying me with his "I want to fight Golovkin! In a year and a half" bullshit. Dude said he wants to collect belts first then fight Golovkin? lol the fuck? He has a direct line to three belts in Golovkin, there is only one belt left in Saunders who turned down both Golovkin and Jacobs. Weak excuse but whatever, I'm sure Jacobs vs Sergio Mora II will be a real barnburner
