Fighter of the Year - Guillermo Rigondeaux

Rigondeaux, while not a superstar or fan favorite, the fact remains he had the single biggest win of the year completely outclassing 2012's fighter of the year, former WBC, WBO Bantamweight, WBA Super Flyweight, IBF and IBO Flyweight Champion in Nonito Donaire winning the lineal Super Bantamweight title and unifying the WBA/WBO super Bantamweight titles. Followed up with a compubox record setting performance against an always tough Joseph Agbeko, who has never been shut out in this fashion before. All in all Rigondeaux was unbelievable, hardly losing a round in 24 total rounds.

Runner up: Adonis Stevenson - Darnell Boone KO, Chad Dawson KO, Tavoris Cloud TKO, Tony Bellew TKO.

Knock out of the Year: Adonis Stevenson TKO1 Chad Dawson. In what Chad Dawson referred to as a tune up fight, Stevenson iced Dawson with the first significant punch in the opening round. While there were a few more flashy KO's this year, the significance of winning the lineal Light Heavyweight Championship in a matter of seconds and changing the landscape of the boxing world for years to come makes this the true KO of the year.

start at 3:50
WBC champion flattened in first round - YouTube

Runner ups: Gennady Golovkin KO3 Matthew Macklin, Lucas Matthysse KO1 Mike Dallas, Matthysse KO Peterson, Gennady Golovkin KO3 Nobuhiro Ishida, Deontay Wilder KO1 Sergei Liakhovich, Curtis Stevens KO1 Elvin Ayala, Edgar Sosa KO2 Ulises Solis, Jhonny Gonzalez TKO1 Abner Mares.

Awesome video here top 20 KO's

Upset of the year
- Jhonny Gonzalez TKO1 Abner Mares.

Mares was a heavy favorite, beating every opponent he faced past few years considered the only real challenge to Nonit9o Donaire at the time. Iced in the first round by a 55-8 veteran.

Runner ups: Srisaket Sor Rungvisai TKO8 Yota Sato, Marcos Maidana W12 Adrien Broner, Adonis Stevenson TKO1 Chad Dawson, Jesus Soto Karass TKO12 Andre Berto, Shawn Porter W12 Devon Alexander, Juan Francisco Estrada W12 Brian Viloria, Tony Thompson KO2 David Price.

Fight of the year - Tim Bradley vs Ruslan Provodnikov.
This, at times, was a real life Rocky movie. The heavy underdog Provodnikov pummeled Bradley beating him to a pulp in numerous rounds, while Bradley showed true heart & courage surviving multiple knockdowns and in the rounds he won boxed well. Brutal ebb and flow action. Bradley admitted after the fight he blacked out after round 10 and had no memory of the championship rounds. Also stated his speech was slurred for months after the fight.

Full fight HERE

Runner ups: Omar Figueroa W12 Nihito Arakawa, Guillermo Jones TKO11 Denis Lebedev, Ruslan Provodnikov TKO10 Mike Alvarado, Erislandy Lara TKO10 Alfredo Angulo, Marcos Maidana W12 Adrien Broner, Darren Barker W12 Daniel Geale, James Kirkland TKO6 Glen Tapia, Mike Alvarado W12 Brandon Rios II.

Round of the year: - Omar Figueroa vs Nihito Arakawa round 3

I'll let the video speak for itself, like 7 billion power punches landed:

Runner ups: Geale vs Barker Rd 6, Bradley vs Ruslan Rd 12, Rios vs Alverado Rd 2, James Kirkland vs Tapia Rd 3, Ruslan vs Alverado Rd 8

Robber of the year - Ricky Burns D12 Raymundo Beltran
Amazingly, 2013 didn't see too many robberies. Some questionable decisions, but for the most part the right guy won the vast majority of the time. This was not the case in Scotland where Beltran clearly beat up Burns, breaking his jaw in the process, knocking him down in the 8th and nearly knocking him out numerous times.

Prospect of the year - Vasyl Lomachenko

While he only made his pro debut months ago, all eyes are on Lomachenko who had an amatuer record of 300-1. He is fighting Salido for a title fight in his second pro fight coming up soon, going for a record.

Runner up: Erroll Spence 10-0 (8 KO's).

Most exciting fighter & Break out year: - Sergey Kovalev

Wow, The Krusher out of Russia had an amazing year aboslutely destroying all oponents starting out by crushing Campillo in 3 rounds, Corneluis White in 3 rounds, picking up a title by stopping Nathan Cleverly in 4 rounds and annihilating Ismayl Sillakh in 2 rounds.

Event of the Year - Mayweather vs Canelo. 2.2 million PPV buys. $150 million generated. Insane.

Greatest achievement - Bernard Hopkins beating Tavoris Cloud to become the oldest champion in the history of boxing (48 years old), beating the prior record of 46 held by none other than Bernard Hopkins.

Comeback fighter of the year: Marcos Maidana. After being shut out by Devon Alexander and looking like he is at the tail end of his year in 2012, he came back in 2013 knocking out Josesito Lopez in 6 and winning a UD over Adrien Broner.

The "I think there might be a problem with my face" award: Denis Lebedev against Guillermo Jones. Fuck.

Yeah i dont agree with the Fighter of the year, Upset of the year, and to say that was boxings round of the year is pretty lame. But an "A" for effort none the less.

How can you disagree with upset of the year? No one saw that coming.

As for round of the year, I watched all the other candidates carefully and I went with the one with non stop action. Bradley vs Ruslan Rd 12 for example was uneventful for 2 and a half minutes, then Ruslan knocked him down and Bradley got up as the time expired, so it was about 25 seconds of excitement. Rios vs Alvarado could have been better but there is no YouTube video to post. Same goes for Geale vs Barker rd 6.

I personally think maidana-broner is the upset of the year because it was a higher calibur fight. You urself even thought Broner was gonna KNOCK him out! And the only reason i said that was a wack round to choose as the winner is because it was the 3rd round and they had 0 stamina left, which made the punches look slow and unmeaningful. I mean it was pretty much one guy throwng and the other taking,,, nothing special... But this is ur special little list, didnt mean to poke ur butt with my long pinky nail...

I left out trainer of the year. Tough call, can't really decide.

Freddie Roach - Ruslan beating Alvarado, Ruslan barely losing to Bradley, Cotto over Rodriguez, Pacquiao over Rios.

Robert Garcia - Donaire loss to Rigondeaux, Donaire come from behind win over Vic, Rios losses to Alvarado and Pacquiao, Mikey Garcia wins over Salido, Martinez, Lopez, Maidana over Broner.

Abel Sanchez - Golovkin over Ishida, Macklin, Stevens, Rosado.

Sugar Hill - Stevenson over Boone, Dawson, Bellow, Cloud.

I picked Mares to win too. Mares was a 8-1 favorite to win. It was +250 over 9.5 rounds! Broner was a 3-1 favorite over Maidana. Also looking back, Mares by far was the more proven fighter and had better credentials.

LOL @ u!!!!! Mares had better credentials? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa
It's not even disputable.

Mares fought and beat:

Daniel Ponce De Leon by KO (same guy many people thought beat Broner)
Anselmo Moreno
Eric Morel
Joseph Agbeko
Vic Darchinyan

His resume shits on Broners

Broner beat:
Demarco
Paulie (very close decision )
And who else?? 4'3 Gavin Rees

You said "credentials" Broner has 3 titles in 3 weight classes!!! come on man!! Not saying the Mares ko wasn't an upset, I just think with all the hype and talk of the Maidana v Broner fight, it would be the better choice.
8-1 odds vs 3-1 odds alone says it all. Yes of course there was more hype around broner but the odds makers had it much further apart than Broner-Maidana.

And yes Mares had better credentials look at who he fought. Broner three time division champ, who did he win those titles from? Paulie a title holder at 147 was a joke, paper champ. He got a gift decision against Cano prior. He won the title off a guy you never heard of in the Ukraine or some shit who was given the belt for no reason.

Mares just doesn't have a big name. I'm not really sure why GBP has had such a hard time making him famous. Maybe because of the Donaire fight not happening, I don't know.

Mares vs Gonzalez rematch is postponed though.
To me, that was a bigger upset. Who the hell did Broner even beat to call that an upset? To me his best win was against DeMarco. A smaller DeMarco who was boosted to the top by a come from behind win against Linares. Other than a loud mouth and a bunch of little fan boys, he didn't have much.

I thought that was a really tough decision this year too. I was gonna say Dan Birmingham but Thurman didn't have big enough wins IMO. I would say Hill.
