Anyone else picking this up? Reviews are great. It's probably the best looking console game I've seen so far, truly looks and feels 'next gen'. Gameplay/mechanics are smooth and fluid. It's challenging and not an easy gsme as well (although I'm sure if you select Easy mode it is). The universe is is really beautiful, makes you want to explore the huge map.

And what a stunning world it is to explore. Horizon is arguably the most gorgeous console game ever created — unseating last year’s graphical showpiece Uncharted 4 — and it’s all the more impressive because it’s such an enormous open world. The sheer size of the map is staggering, and it’s littered with things to do and secrets to uncover.

I've read one review that talks about how Guerrilla does a great job tackling certain RPG/open world games that have become boring, mundane and predictable. For example:

-Side Missions With Substance.
It doesn't have a ton of side missions compared to a lot of other games, bit they are all full of substance, long and add a lot to the story. You’re rarely doing the same thing twice

-Those Dreaded “Ubisoft Map Towers”.
Unlike Ubisoft games, instead of climb here to unlock map, over and over in the exact same way, Horizon has about 5 or 6, bit they are all unique, part of the story, and it’s always more complicated than simply finding the thing and scaling it. "The point being is that Guerrilla took one of the most mundane, overdone open world activities, tower-map unlocking, and turned it into something legitimately fun and interesting in most missions."

-The Story is Actually Great.

-Combat is Far From Repetitive.
"This is one of the only games I’ve ever seen where you will definitely have to use almost every tool at your disposal to take down enemies. Yes, you can sneak around and stealth kill weaker ones, but the further go you, and start running into robotic monsters 50 times your size, you have change up tactics. Even as a player who likes to stick with what works, meaning one or two weapons usually, Horizon demands you get yourself out of that mindset."

So is this far cry primal? Ii redboxed it and havnt played it yet.
It's not a bad comparison to Far Cry but it's much better than Primal. Far Cry Primal, and all the Far Cry games, are pretty repetitive - take out camp, go to tower. Repeat 100 times. Generic story. AI is pretty dumb (besides a few animals that can be a pain). I'm a fan of Far Cry too, although didn't really like Primal.

Horizon doesn't feel repetitive like Far Cry. Everything seems to have a purpose including side missions. The mechanics and combat are really fluid and smooth. The AI is smarter than Far Cry and can be pretty challenging. I'd say there are more RPG elements as well, although neither are classic RPGs, they just have typical RPG elements (weapon upgrades, clothing, traps, potions and crafting, etc.). There are dialogue wheel options, but I'm not sure how much your decisions effect the game, I haven't really explored too much of that yet. Far Cry there were hardly any decisions to make besides a couple key points in the game. Again, both have RPG elements so they are similar in that sense.

From what I can tell the story is better in Horizon and from my experience, the main character is already far deeper than any of the Far Cry games, where dude is just some generic hero with hardly any back story at all. Horizon, they do a good job making you connect with the main character and you watch her grow.

Stealth seems a lot better in Horizon. I don't remember ever doing any stealth stuff in Far Cry games. You can use more strategy as well and often times you gotta think things through on how to take out some enemies. There are various traps you can craft and use, so you can get creative.

I always enjoyed Far Cry games, especially Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. I wasn't a fan of Primal though. But they were all pretty much copy & paste games. Same shit, few tweaks here and there in a different environment. So I think if someone enjoyed those games, they'd definitely like this since it's better in almost every way. I can see Horizon Zero Dawn being the first of many since the universe they've created is so interesting and most importantly the foundation of the game is great (mechanics, combat, gameplay, everything is solid, no real complaints at all).

Yeah its exactly like fcp..

Gotta look for twigs rocks and ect to craft weapons.... im not to far into the game bc ive been doing side quests but if this bitch rides a bear to her next task im turning it off lol.:dead:

Its just a more polished version, well bc it came out wayyy later.. but yeah its the same. Shit... replace real animals with robots.

The first 15 mins is nothing special and then all of a sudden you're grown and going out on your own...

lol crafting isn't unique to Far Cry. Witcher 3, pretty much every single RPG, and even action/adventure games like Tomb Raider have crafting.

Far Cry is basically find and climb towers, like 30 of them and raid camps. Each you have yo do a ton of times. Horizon isn't like that and had much more of a story/plot. I guess because of the Bow and a primitive tribe (set on the distant post apocalyptic future) u can make the comparison but outside of that it's a lot different than Primal because of all the advanced technology like explosive components, traps, scanning abilities, hacking abilities, etc.

The Bow and animalistic robots is about the only comparison, even this is 3rd person compared to z2sr person.

Some of my screenshots I've taken. I've spent so much time taking screenshots feel like I gotta share them lol:

I like how in Photo Mode you can cycle through the time of day, so you can end up with multiple variations of the same picture:

the nights sky in this game is dope:

This game looks awesome but horizon < witcher
Yeah of course, Witcher 3 is my all time favorite game. Still, Witcher 1 and 2 aren't anything that special but those had to come before the Witcher 3 masterpiece, this is the first Horizon game I suspect there will be more to come based off it's success.

It's a solid game though, challenging foes. I'm still getting whopped by certain enimies.

Just finished the main story the ending is fucking insane. Loved the game. Not as good as the witcher 3 but what is. Still got a ton of side shit to do
Good shit. I need to get back on the main story fucking around too much on side missions. I need to upgrade my weapons though, getting fucked up by Stormbirds those things are pretty massive. First time I saw one it was far up in the sky I figure it's not that big, swoops down holy shit! Motherfuckers can catch you off guard quick.

I like the variety in the machines, some small some fucking enormous. A lot of them are pretty challenging and will fuck you up if you're not prepared.
