Ex-GTA producer Leslie Benzies announces first game, and it is Everywhere | TheINQUIRER

THAT GUY CALLED Leslie Benzies who used to work at Rockstar Games, left the company, sued the company, and set up a number of rival companies has officially announced his comeback title: a game called Everywhere.

The important thing to note immediately is that Benzies says that the game will not be like Grand Theft Auto, which means that it will also not be like Bully, which is good, and not like Red Dead Redemption, which is most excellent.

Still, Benzies has a Midas touch when it comes to games. No, he didn't give birth to Mario the plumber and he never inseminated any hedgehogs with Sonic juice, but he does have an impressive back story. People will be expecting Everywhere to be everything.

Everywhere is a working title, so it might actually be Time for a New World, which is the only title so far trademarked by Benzies new Royal Circus Games. According to an interview with Polygon, it will not be a game in which cartoon characters drive souped up vehicles and throw projectiles at each other - despite these games nearly always being a winner - but will be something that will take a lot of understanding and probably won't come with an instruction booklet.

It is being developed in the Amazon Lumberyard Studios, because this is a leaner, more efficient experience, reportedly.
"We're building a video game. Our working title is ‘Everywhere'. While it'll have many established gaming elements, we're also including features that games haven't touched on yet. I'd like to tell you all the stuff we're excited about, but I have to keep the specifics under wraps for now," he said.

"I can say this. We want this game to be less restrictive than other games. While the game has multiple narratives, we also want players to create their own narratives that include characters with a real personality. If we do this right, we're going to give players the chance to really live out their fantasies, not just the limited fantasies that most games set up for them, and do so in a deeply immersive way."

Everywhere has its own website. That doesn't make anything clearer. Under the What section of the brief site visitors are informed that it is "a video game that simulates and fuses the real world with the virtual. Live your own stories as you live in ours". Hmm. Not helping.

There must be a press release? Usually they make these things clearer. Oh. No, not in this case.

"The working title of this new game is ‘Everywhere' and the vision is long term, with the capacity to develop and grow forever," says Benzie.

"Our goal is to create a platform where players can be entertained, and also entertain others while blurring the lines between reality, and a simulated world." Later in the interview he added "‘Everywhere' is very different from GTA."

Prffffft. We'll wait for the trailer.
