lol we've gone over it a couple times in this thread.
Math rock is a rhythmically complex, guitar-based style of experimental rock music[1] that emerged in the late 1980s. It is characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures (including irregular stopping and starting), angular melodies, and dissonant chords.[2]
A closely-related genre is post-rock, into which some of the same bands are classified; post-rock, however, tends to feature a "jazzier" drumming style. In many cases, post-rock is less technical, though this is not necessarily the case. As well, the dissonance common to many math rock bands is not as common in the post-rock genre (though it is still very present in some of the music).
In a nutshell it's a bunch of noodling and weird time signatures

Yeah math rock bands can sound like totally different genres too. From Battles, to Don Caballero, to Giraffes? Giraffes! and Maps & Atlases. All are labeled as math rock and are in some form but they all sound almost entirely different then the others.

That being said what kind of math rock bands are you looking for RJ? Like who in comparison too. While I do like the crazy ones like Giraffes? Giraffes! and Tera Melos I go more for the indie math rock type bands like Rodan, Minus the Bear, and Sharks Keep Moving, etc.

Just off of Spiderland alone Slint is probably my favorite math rock/post rock band ever.

Mogwai Fear Satan is one of my favorite post rock songs ever. Even though I like all their stuff I still don't think they have ever topped Mogwai Young Team. I didn't know this was even coming out, thanks RJ.

They just finished recording a new album too so hopefully that will be released this year.

Ya I've got an online buddy that lives in Scotland and is cool with a couple of them and he heard some of the songs and said they're most like the Mr. Beast stuff, which is my favorite album of theirs. So I can't wait.

Radiohead has been like a creeper band for me for like the past decade. At first didn't care for them at all, then they were tolerable, then I liked a couple songs, now I think they are good but still way over hyped. If this continues to happen by the time I'm 40 they will be my favorite band ever.

That being said I'm downloading this because it's more or less all the songs I like and I don't own any of their albums lol.
