I've been meaning to check out Shai Halud, guys on ETC. were saying it's really good.
I got the new A Skylit Drive album last night, and notice I didn't post it in here because I think it's terrible lol. I had to listen to the new Emarosa songs to remind myself that not all scene music is as horrible as most of it is.
shit, man, i was looking forward to that album too, i'm still gonna check it out though, but, now i'm not really anticipating anything.

And to nuttkase...hmm. as a consolence, not that it matters at all, i downloaded the feral children cd, and, yeah it's cool. I downloaded it a while ago too...

Theme

Cult of Luna rehearse in an area that was once the site of a long demolished mental institution. Upon moving their practice space to a different spot on the same site, the band uncovered long forgotten relics of the hospital, including old apparatus and medical journals. Amongst the discovery was the diary of Holger Nilsson, a former inmate of the prison placed there after drowning his wife. The diary was titled 'Tales from the Eternal Kingdom'.

Digesting the diary, the band realised that they had stumbled upon the ramblings of a madman. In the diary, Nilsson blamed the death of his wife on Ugín, a fictional character created to pass the blame for the murder. The diary created a completely imagined world in which owl men and tree men all contributed to a fantasy story that explained why Nilsson was innocent of the crime.

It can be read in its entirety at the MySpace promotion page for the album.

Joan of Arc is awesome. I don't know if I'd really call them all that weird though. Man Man is weird, Joan of Arc is just awesome. Anything to do with Tim Kinsella is worth checking out. While I like every Joan of Arc album their first one called A Portable Model of... is still their best in my opinion.

Check out Algernon Cadwallader if you haven't Carnage. You'll probably dig them as they are heavily influenced by Joan of Arc and other Tim Kinsella bands. Search this thread there is a link a few pages back somewhere.

Cap’n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology

The Sky Corvair - Unsafe At Any Speed

http://www.mediafire.com/?jetrraohdhl

I don't feel like posting links to everyone of their albums so you can get more or less everything Joan of Arc ever released here.

From the same blogspot another of his bands named Make Believe you can get here.

Owls - Self Titled
http://www.mediafire.com/?bzcl4htx0zl

I couldn't find links to his solo stuff and music with the bands Friend/Enemy and Everyoned so if you like the stuff posted just ask and I'll up them when I have the time.

Also his brother Mike Kinsella who he was in Cap'n Jazz with and sometimes plays guitar or drums on Joan of Arc albums has some great music too. He records solo stuff under then name Owen and was lead singer of one of my favorite indie/emo bands ever called American Football. He was also part of a short lived band called The One Up Downstairs who only released a handful of songs but they were really good too.

Here's the album I was talking about last week. I love it, but I doubt this is gonna be for everyone.
2*Sweet- Sleep Without Dreams
Power Pop with Danzig-like vocals.

01. Dreamcatcher ( 0:39)
02. Rested Eyes Tell No Lies ( 3:05)
03. What I Did On My Summer Vacation ( 3:37)
04. Miss You ( 4:18)
05. Life’s Black Ice ( 2:53)
06. King Midas’ Desert ( 2:54)
07. Bury Me In The Lovers’ Graveyard ( 3:29)
08. Tarantula Perfume ( 3:46)
09. Funeral Moon ( 3:23)
10. Give Me Your Gold ( 3:41)
11. Speak Of The Devil ( 3:14)
12. Friends ‘Til The Weekend ( 3:11)
13. Dateless For Armageddon ( 4:12)

If you think this isn't your thing here's my favorite track, just to show how much the guy sounds like Danzig, and Danny Nigro's on it which should be a feature on every album. Tarantula Perfume (feat. Daniel Nigro from As Tall As Lions)

The Algernon Cadwallader album was really good too, breath of fresh air i'd say. Horror, album title song, and the last one are so far my favorites.
I also finally got the chance to check out beirut...also good stuff.

And thanks for the links, i'll be sure to check em out.

Anyone know of any bands along the lines of gatsby? That kinda music i mean, good bands with that kinda music i mean more specifically.

it's weird because Gatsbys isn't like the most original band of all time or anything, but no one else really sounds like them in the fucking awesome way they did it.
