i recently bought a new system for my car. i got a 12' mtx thunder 4500
shown here:

and the amp i got was a mtx thunder 702x
shown here:
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/xthunder702X.cfm

along with this i bought 4 new speakers 2 front n 2 backs. my boy and i decided to install it ourselves and we finished with plugging in both the speakers and sub to the amp. it seems the amp doesnt have enough juice to make both of them knock because before i plugged in both, the sub was hitting way hard; however the sound is much clearer now. i figured that if i simply get a new amp to either run the sub or the speakers seperately, ill keep the quality and have more power.

what do you guys recommend as a good cheap amp to power either the sub or speakers. what would be better to power with the new amp and the other amp?

your amp is too weak bruh. ur amp only puts out 210 watts rms at 1 ohm max. each of the subs handle 225 watts rms. so you barley got enough power for 1 sub. get another amp of the same if u have to. if i was u i would use that amp for the speakers and get a fatter amp for both the subs. its up to you though. also do you know anything about wiring because there are different ways to wire it up to get more juice out of the amp, but i can't tell u how im not an expert on that type of shit. u should take it to a shop tho cuz this is a pretty basic question they will have your shit slappin at a shop and you wont have to worry about your shit blowing out cuz u got it wired up wrong.

The first question is do you have the dual 4ohm voice coils or the single. You can wire them up to 1 ohm if they are dual if not you can wire them to 2 ohms. Take a look at this website just put in your information and it will give you your wiring options:
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp
then once you figure out how you want them to be wired you can pick an amp. If they are dual voice coil you should get an amp that is 1 ohm stable and around 500-600 watts RMS at 1 ohm. The amp you have now is to weak for those subs you would be under powering them even if you used only one sub with it. Check out sonicelectronix.com they have great deals but once you find what amp you want you can check ebay too.
