The Game has been released from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles after serving just eight days of a 60 day sentence. The rapper’s release was confirmed by his attorney Shawn Chapman Holley to website TMZ.com this morning (March 10). The Compton MC was sentenced to two months in jail after accepting a plea deal on a felony count of weapons possession. The charge stemmed from a February 24, 2007 incident at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Los Angeles. According to witnesses, the Compton native got into an argument with a fellow player during a basketball game and subsequently threatened the man with a firearm he retrieved from his Cadillac Escalade. Last month the rapper agreed to the plea deal and prosecutors agreed to dismiss two additional charges of making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a peace officer.

Ya'll are all wrong. In LA your only doin like 10% of your time in county. It's just too overcrowded. That's for everybody. My lil brother got the same thing for a gun case, and he only sat about 10 days.

LOL @ staying in jail longer than you have to because it makes you hard and your rep tougher.

Yeah, like some of you dummy-ass folks wouldn't use your money (if you had it) to get you out, if you were in that position.

LOL

for someone in his position who actually made it as a rapper, to still be pulling gats out on fools over basketball games is pretty sad. honestly dude deserved to do each and every day in that 60 day sentence. that was a weak move.

lol "for safety reasons"

Contrary to previous reports, rapper The Game is currently still behind bars. Although website TMZ.com previously reported that the MC had been released from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, his manager Jimmy Henchmen confirmed to XXLMag.com that he is still in custody. The confusion over the Black Wall Street head’s release apparently arose from jail records that listed him as having been released late Sunday evening (March 9). While he did in fact leave the Twin Towers facility, he was moved to another facility for safety reasons. According to Henchmen, Game’s camp is still anticipating his early release due to over crowding in Los Angeles jails.

The Game is a free man, according to a representative for the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. There had been some confusion surrounding the status of the rapper.

His attorney, in an e-mail to MTV News on Monday, confirmed her client was released from his scheduled 60-day sentence after serving only eight days. The reason? Overcrowding, Shawn Chapman Holley said.

"[Game] is now on probation and will eagerly begin his court-ordered community service," Holley added.

Later that day, however, the rapper's management released a statement to media outlets claiming that Game was not released from prison — he was merely transferred to another facility.

"Reports stating that the Game has been released from prison are false," Jimmy Rosemond said in the statement. "Although he was transferred from the Twin Towers, he is not expected to be released until early April in time to promote his upcoming album L.A.X. Times. The Game and his family would like to thank his fans for their continued support."

On Tuesday morning (March 11), a representative from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility informed MTV News that inmate Jayceon Taylor, also known as Game, was in fact released from custody March 9 at 11:34 p.m.

When asked if the rapper was transferred upon his release, the rep explained that the inmate's status would reveal where he was shipped. Game's information only states he was released, meaning he is a free man.

MTV News' calls to Holley and Rosemond for clarification had not been returned at press time.

The Los Angeles native checked into the Twin Towers on March 2 to serve a sentence for a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone.

The felony gun charge stemmed from an incident that occurred in California in February 2007. Prosecutors argued Game punched a bystander and threatened him with a gun during a pickup basketball game at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Los Angeles. The rapper wasn't arrested for the incident until three months later, when police searched his home for three hours in connection with the incident.

In February of this year, Game Game was also arrested in May 2006 on weapons charges after Burbank, California, police pulled over his vehicle on a traffic violation and discovered a pair of brass knuckles.
