DUXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) - A funeral procession in Duxbury took a violent turn when someone inside a car opened fire on a man in another car.
According to police, the driver of a Bentley shot at the driver of a Dodge SUV as the two vehicles went down Route 3 southbound. The SUV driver, a man in his 40s, suffered a gunshot wound and exited his vehicle and was taken to Duxbury Police by a passerby.
He was transported to South Shore Hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.
Sources say that there was some sort of altercation between the two people, which led to the shooting.
The funeral was for the mother of Boston-based rapper Benzino. Mary Scott had passed away on March 20. Sources confirm that it was Benzino that suffered the gunshot wound, but officials have not released names.
There was no sign of trouble until the hearse pulled up to the church with blood on it, according to Father William Williams.
"I said to one of the guys: 'There's blood on the hearse.' There was an incident along the way," Williams said. "The family was there. They were mourning somebody they loved who died so they didn't want to talk cops and robbers."
The Bentley driver has been placed under arrest. He was charged with armed assault with intent to murder. He will be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Monday.
