what would cause firefox and chrome to suddenly stop working but ie still does?

i only have mine on a little bit at a time. im at work or asleep most of the time. it wouldnt bug me as much if ie wasnt working either but it is. i just want to know what the hell happened. google doesnt have an answer. i guess i should have stated that in my first post before the hall monitor squares got their panties in a wad about it.
