Quick facts:

Police said they are investigating after someone claimed to be a serial killer on Craigslist.

Tulsa police said someone reported the post and they have subpoenaed Craigslist for more information.

They said it could be a scam.

Police said they do have a person of interest in the case.

Tulsa police are investigating a disturbing post that went up on Craigslist last week.

The post, written as though it’s from a self-proclaimed murderer, “thanks” Tulsa for “letting me have my first kill” and goes on to say the poster plans to head to Oklahoma City next.

FOX23 Katie Higgins took a look at the post and talked to Tulsa police officials

“Intelligence folks said they saw it and they are going to work on it,” Walker said.

Police sent a subpoena to Craigslist but results from that could take a while. While the police are taking to post very seriously, Walker said it could also likely be a scam or hoax.

“You know, we don’t have anyone who is unaccounted for. We don’t have a dead person that we haven’t figured out,” Walker said.

He told FOX23 he’s seen a similar situation before when a 918 number texted people questions about burying a body.

“Maybe they are drunk or stupid,” Walker said.

The difference with the latest Craigslist post is that it also mentions a couple of people by name: A local judge and a Department of Corrections employee.

“Specifically naming those folks means there is some sort of connection,” Walker said.

Police Friday that they do have a person of interest in the case. The suspect is not in Oklahoma and they do not yet believe there is any truth to the post.
