A lot of computer whizs & hackers are stoners how is this surprising?

I mean so much so that the FBI is having a hard time hiring computer/hacking experts because you can't have smoked weed within the last three years of applying.

Comey: FBI ‘Grappling’ With Hiring Policy Concerning Marijuana

It's also not surprising that this dude is still using AOL. People in his age range are generally not too computer savvy and he's probably just stuck with the same email some intern made for him in the 90s. That said he shouldn't have been discussing shit like that over a personal email of course.

The kid also didn't technically hack his email as so much as acquired information by various means that allowed him to reset and change dude's password on his personal email. That's definitely a security breach but not hacking.

Either way the leaks have been a pretty interesting read and John Brennan can fuck right on off into the sunset.

It isn't complicated at all what these guys did but regardless they'll probably get 10 years in prison. It's crazy what they are charging hackers with and for what exactly, just making shit up as they go, like people who point out a security flaw and pass that info to journalists getting 10 year, 20 years etc.

What is "technically" hacking?

In my opinion actually exploiting weaknesses in computer systems and networks. Most of the 'fappening' was just people finding out famous peoples emails and piecing enough personal information together about them to answer their security questions and reset their passwords which isn't really hacking and what happened in this case sort of.

That said there is still lot of discussion on what should and shouldn't be considered hacking.

I'm a Systems Admin. I was just curious on the Siccness take on hacking. The fact this guy was using AOL for government e-mail makes me cringe. He should be fired immediately.

Just saw a movie on Netflix called "The Hacker Wars" which talks about this. It was an interesting documentary.
