What about Niggaz In Black, 187, Funky Blue Velvet, Dosia, Hyrisk, SAC, and JAK Squad?
yeap those too.

MINUS Funky Blue Velvet. They're a funk band.

Hyrisk was mentioned as Dosia.

187 I dont know, unless it's the death metal band that SMG put out and somehow it's ended up on rap lists.

That list was no way complete
Marv-Mitch & LeMay no doubt.

2SAV as well like shinobi mentioned. 2SAV would be a definite contender do Hollow and Mic-C still rep the name?

NIB & SAC that's good mentions but somethin serious has to be said about SAC. Anyone even fuckin heard the tape Freedom Or Death? 1 or 2 people on the siccness i think have. I like to think it's a classic waiting to get out there. Both versions of it. 2 fucking versions and no one on the siccness got that shit or wants to offer up some of the sound at least.

Damn that is a list. And still triple beam gotta be head and shoulders above the rest. I can't remember crisis, I'll check that out. I don't remember liking unknown that much. Don't remember darkside.

And locc2brain and swartzaniggaz woulda been something, but they never got an album out. This new locc2dabrain is uhhhhh.....

T-Tay and babe reg had some good songs together as munnee clip.

Also "fuck a homie" is a classic triple beam song, on their third album I think?
That's who i was tryna think of... Not been close to Sac rap as usual. Munnee lip was dope. Who was Rebel part of i thought he was them guys or Fettimeans i forget.

You've reminded me of Big Q & Foe Loco's duo venture, 4Q i think was the name. I thought it'd be better, being a big fan of them both on Bomb Sac, Focus, Odysea, Bombay...

Since we're doin duos too I'd still say Rollyn 1000 Click, Nonfiktion, Marv/Mitch & LeMay, 2Sav [i thought they were there on the list!],

Rap duos in Sac seem to be better than the groups.
WHO IS sac's rap group though?

Sac is a bit of a phenomenon for majorly successful rap groups it seems. We all think about GD, Luni, Bo, Lynch, X, Marva, Hollow, Mozzy when you think of the cemented rap scene, not much about groups. Duos at the most. Good topic.

Look at Oakland or Frisco in the bay and some of the first names that pop out of your head are rap groups. Even SJC though their rap scene you'd also think would have had way more props. Stockton u think of Funk Mobb/DOA, COPS, HCU, DOja Clik off top. Im ranting but hope you get where my mind is goin.

Can we make Triple Beam Sac's official best rap group? It might put them on that list of solo artist if we make enough noise about it. :beard:

Blackalicious? Maybe not your definition of 916 Rap, but they are certainly the most famous ones representing Sacramento.

I'd rate the following based on gangsta rap:

Nonfiktion
Triple beam
Explicit Fam (Young Joker, Kilo Kapanel, Macadame, Koo Laveesh)

Yep, that's their best song on any of their albums. It was released like you said on their 3rd album, but it sounds like it was made in the mid-late 90's.
Shiiit of course Blackalicious. I remember that Don't Let Money Change Ya cut gettin big airplay in the UK so that's Sac's rap group right there. Can't beat that.

For gangsta shit though. Triple Beam all the way.

I didn't even know blackalicious was from sac. That blows my mind.

Triple beam still better to me...(personal preference)

I was never crazy about old school gangsta Dre, probably cuz I heard inner city poet first, so everything before that was sub par. "Momma said" is a dope song though.

Momma Said has a whole verse that was recycled from one of his albums, cant remember which though.

I know what you mean by the 1 album phenomenon, happened to a lot of decent Sac rap groups/duos.. CCH, although "stuck it out for one album" had an EP with different tracks, at a different time. Hyrisk had 2 albums.

C.R.I.S.I.S. would be another heavy hitter in that one drop list of yours.

Unknown also gotta be mentioned. Also since we're talkin bout rap duos, 4Tray Block & Da Drifta & Situations as they all came from Unknown.

Don't forgot Darkside too. Although they only had 2 albums. One of which was repackaged 3 or 4 times...

Odysea would've had more weight in this topic had they continued. Same could be said with a lot of the rap duos too though.

I'd say Dosia but it was only really Luni who was from Sac. It was basically Kingpins Only with Luni as a new member.

Locc 2 Da Brain?

here's a list that no way is complete, but just an idea of how the names already mentioned compare as far as popularity, west coast impact, rap/hip hop impact..

All the groups in sac are tight, Our first triple beam album 28 g's w/ o the bag is more special than meets the eye, because alot of those groups were in the studio with us when we were recording it. Or at that time, we were all doing shows and meeting up all over the states. FYI, SACRAMENTO RAP is on the come back. New artist like MOZZY is keeping it lit!
Look out for a new Triple Beam album this summer. Also look out for the upcoming documentary "28 GRAMS" also coming this summer! Support all SACRAMENTO RAPPERS & GROUPS!

Kinda hard to pick for a few reasons..

Nonfiktion had the best album of any sac group (and 1 of the best to ever come out of sac period. I put it in top 5) but they were 1 and done.

4tray block is an amazing album, one of my favorites. But nico said the original press was only 300 units. Most ppl in sac had never even heard it til the 2000s when it started getting ripped.

Triple Beam is the most noteworthy, with multiple albums, pretty big buzz etc. But they never dropped anything as good as creative differences for example.

Swartzaniggas probably SHOULD have been the best group, but they never actually dropped an album.

Other groups are alot of 1 and dones, or stuff with really small presses. Bottom line, our city has alot of history and many groups can make the "goat" claim.... bump what you like, we have plenty of options!

I always hoped for a Playah Click album. Had it dropped during the first 2-3years of Highside records, it probably would have been dope. On the early releases, all the tracks with Hollow, Dame and mic c were dope
