CD store in san francisco

Yo I'm goin' to SF this summer and I will take time to visit some music store. I checked yellowpages to see what are in SF and it seems that amoeba & rasputin are the only stores !!? WTF ? did they all quit or yellowpages is fucked up ?

thats cool, those mom & pops ESFCE mentioned are cool but arent gonna be much cheaper or have better selection than Amoeba, that SF Amoeba is probably my favorite cd store of all time.

yeah your better off going to Rasputin or Amoeba, mom & pops tend to charge more and have less of a selection. Amobea is pretty much all you need.

if you cant find what you need at the SF amoeba and rasputins...head to berkeley and hit up the rasputins and amoeba there.....they are pretty much right next to eachother

They even have some oop rare stuff :D ?
I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping hanging around in SF, going from one store to another, checking cds and visiting the city.
Reading your description amoeba & rasputin sound like monsters !

You have to remember that CD stores are a dying business. Places like Wherehouse, Sam Goody, etc. have all disappeared. IF people buy CDs, they go to Best Buy. So you're not going to find a music store on every corner in Northern California, but you will find more music stores than most anywhere else. When I was up there in February, I hit up two Rasputin's and spent over $300 combined at both stores. As far as finding rare music, it just depends on how hard you look and how stupid some people are for selling valuable rarities to a music store for a couple of bucks.
