It looks like its bout to be all over for the Spurs, then need to get some more young talent to mix in with there vets. Roger Mason was obviously the new fresh face for them that has really produced but if they can get one more player like a small forward or power forward they will back in serious contention

The Spurs conducted a pre-draft workout with Gonzaga point guard Jeremy Pargo, the younger brother of one-time San Antonio target Jannero Pargo(notes). The elder Pargo could once again be in the Spurs’ plans, since his contract with Russian club Dynamo Moscow is done.

The younger Pargo (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) played all four years at Gonzaga and became one of the top playmakers in college ball. Considered by many a project, he could fall into the second round.

The Spurs have three second-round picks. Another possible target, if he stays in the draft, is 20-year-old Israeli forward Omri Casspi. The Spurs, one of the league’s most successful teams drafting international players, have followed the 6-foot-8 small forward since he was about 17.

Since the Spurs are looking to get younger on the wing, Casspi potentially makes sense. The issue is whether he pulls out of the draft. The word is Casspi would withdraw if he’s not a first-round pick.

The Spurs don’t have a first-rounder, but the team could package second-round picks and maybe move into the late first round.

that'd be dope if the Spurs got Pargo. he tore it up when he was a Zag.

The San Antonio Spurs are nearing completion on a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks for forward Richard Jefferson(notes), league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.

The proposed deal would have the Spurs send veterans Bruce Bowen(notes), Kurt Thomas(notes) and Fabricio Oberto(notes) to the Bucks, who are looking to shed the remaining two years, $29.2 million on Jefferson’s contract for the Spurs’ expiring contracts. The contracts of Bowen and Oberto are only partially guaranteed for a total of $3.9 million for next season.

The deal isn’t completed, but league executives say both teams appear motivated to get it done.

Jefferson is the athletic, scoring forward whom Spurs have craved to complement the aging tandem of Tim Duncan(notes) and Manu Ginobili(notes). The Spurs have been pursuing the New Jersey Nets’ Vince Carter(notes) too, but it appears Jefferson is the deal that they can make now.

After arriving in Milwaukee last summer from New Jersey, Jefferson averaged 19.6 points for the Bucks last season.

Bowen, 38, has been a staple of the past three Spurs championships and one of the NBA’s most dogged defenders
Hell yeah thatd be tha shit if that deal goes through. Get rid of that bum Oberto and Bowen will probably be cut and come right back. I like Kurt Thomas but you gotta do what ya gotta do. Keepin my fingers crossed.

The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, a Bucks source told ESPN.com.

Durable Stars

In the past two seasons, only two players have averaged at least 20.0 PPG while playing in every game: Richard Jefferson (pictured) and Kobe Bryant.
Player Team PPG
Kobe Bryant Lakers 27.6
Richard Jefferson Bucks 21.1
Andre Iguodala 76ers 19.3
Andre Miller 76ers 16.7

The two teams have agreed to the deal in principle. A trade call to make the deal official will happen later Tuesday.

The move gives the Spurs a dynamic wing scorer to play alongside Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs had promised to make their team better this summer and adding Jefferson for role players should give them a huge shot in the arm.

The Bucks' incentive to make the trade is largely financial. Bowen, Oberto and Thomas are all in the last year of their contracts. The deal will clear $15 million off the books for the Bucks in 2010-11 and give Milwaukee more flexibility for the 2009-10 season. The Bucks expect to save $6.35 million next season after releasing Bowen (only $2 million guaranteed) and Oberto (only $1.9 million guaranteed), a source told ESPN.com.

That may give the Bucks the wiggle room to sign one or both of their restricted free agents -- Charlie Villanueva or Ramon Sessions -- next year.

The move also opens up some playing time for the Bucks' lottery pick last year, Joe Alexander.

that's dope.

The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to acquire Richard Jefferson(notes) from the Milwaukee Bucks, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.

The deal, first reported by Yahoo! Sports, has the Spurs sending veterans Bruce Bowen(notes), Kurt Thomas(notes) and Fabricio Oberto(notes) to the Bucks, who are looking to shed the remaining two years, $29.2 million on Jefferson’s contract for the Spurs’ expiring contracts. The contracts of Bowen and Oberto are only partially guaranteed for a total of $3.9 million for next season.

Oh yeah i'm lovin this move..... Mr. Fab has been taking a nose dive on playing minutes, Bruce hasn't really been that same defensive player like in the past and Kurt played decent enough but sometimes was soft in the interior. We're losing size but gaining MUCH MORE offense with Jefferson than all three of the players we traded combined!
