Raiders blacked out...again
The Raiders failed to sell out Sunday's game against Baltimore by today's 1:15 p.m. deadline so they will be blacked out on television locally for the seventh time this season. Only the season-opening Monday Night Football game against San Diego sold out in time to be televised in market, and the Raiders needed a pair of deadline extensions to get that deed done.
It is the first time the Raiders have had seven home blackouts in a season since 1997, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
It's a depressing turn for the Raiders as they had, since taking over ticket sales for themselves three years ago, sold out six of eight home games in each of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons, respectively.
And for those of you keeping score at home, this is the 76th black out in 120 home games (63.3%) since the Raiders returned to their ancestral home of Oakland in 1995 from their 13-season sojourn to Los Angeles.
