after 2 weeks, the D mac is fourth in rushing with 177 yards and pryor is 7th with 162

we are tied for the lead in sacks with 9

we are first overall rushing with 397 yards

the concerning thing with our defense is that we have zero takeaways. we need to get turnovers, especillay against guys like manning if we want to have any type of decent season

Nice to see Jacoby Ford actually play. If he can stay healthy i actually like our trio of receivers. Crazy how well that option gets us so much more rushing yards even with a wack offensive line lol. So much better so far from last year. Now Pryor just needs stay in the pocket a bit more when passing to really confuse the defenses.

The #Raiders defense is tied for 1st in the NFL with 9 sacks and is ranked 6th in the NFL in yards allowed and tied for 3rd in points allowed.

wish we were healthier going in to monday night, gonna find out what this team is really made of. a lot of these players are on 1 year contracts and I imagine this game is going to be a big deciding factor into whether or not reggie resigns any of them. win or lose, they gotta show something

Back to the raiders....

This next game will be a big indication of where we are. Good news is that clady has a lisfranc injury that will keep him out for a While. I expect the mad scientist tarver to blitz alot from manning a blind side

2 games in and 220+ of that was against the sorry ass jags that everyone will roll over all year, we need to work on our red zone offense because we should of had a helluva lot more than 19 pts on the jags.

The numbers are impressive and we are a bit better than anticipated, but the reality of our team will be shown Monday night, I just hope we are able to compete a lil bit. What pisses me off about Pryor is the passes he completes he is always putting the receivers in danger, his timing is too far off.

Oct. 6 Raiders-Chargers game on Sunday night?
It looks as if the Raiders have fought off efforts to swap their home games with the Chargers due to a scheduling conflict with the Oakland A’s and the baseball playoffs. The A’s will play at O.co Coliseum on Oct. 5 or 7 depending on where they finish, and Major League Baseball was hoping the Raiders would swap their Oct. 6 home date with the Chargers’ Dec. 22 home date.
But little birdies outside O.co are saying kickoff will likely be pushed back on Oct. 6 for a home night game. The game would be broadcast on the NFL Network.
The A’s and their opponent would have to move their off-day workout, maybe to AT&T Park in San Francisco.
No one is talking about the matter on the record. The Raiders and NFL will make an announcement in the next couple of days.

Jon Gruden: Raiders offense creates confusion by design
ALAMEDA -- It's disorder and confusion when the Raiders have the ball, and Greg Olson is the man responsible.

Only for a change, the turmoil is happening on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

That's how former Raiders coach and ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden described what Olson is doing with the Oakland offense in a recent phone interview.

"What Greg has done is created a lot of chaos," Gruden said

Gruden, who hired Olson as his quarterbacks coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, will call the Raiders game Monday night against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field.

Olson calls Gruden one of his biggest influences as an offensive coach, citing his "presentation and preparation," as well as Gruden's belief of being a team that applies pressure rather that feeling pressure.

During his film study in preparation for the Broncos and Raiders, Gruden can see Olson tailoring a offense for quarterback Terrelle Pryor that can put pressure on a defense.

"You're going to have to deal with (Darren) McFadden, on the other side you're going to have to deal with Pryor and the option, the zone read and all the nuances that go along with that," Gruden said.

"I've seen Wildcat formations. I've see shifts to no-back sets. I've seen them bring in (Matt) McCants, a big offensive tackle, to play tight end. You're seeing a coordinator that's doing everything he can to adapt to a new quarterback."

It's a philosophy counter to the one held by previous offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, who will be on the opposite sideline as quarterbacks coach of the Broncos.

Knapp unapologetically believed in zone runs and a West Coast system with a moving pocket, with the players asked to adjust to his system. To deviate, Knapp explained last season, would be like a college professor teaching a subject other than the one he knows best.

When coach Dennis Allen decided to fire Knapp after one season, Olson came his job interview with ideas on how to stimulate production from existing players, including ways to creatively use Pryor.

"We went into the season expecting to have a package of plays and be able to use Terrelle," Allen said. "Terrelle's improvement has given us the opportunity to use him more. That was something we discussed at the very beginning when we were going through the hiring process."

Olson's ability to adjust to a changing cast of players has been crucial. When he first took the job, the quarterback was still Carson Palmer, although even the Pryor was in the picture for the occasional series or two.

When the decision was made to cut ties with Palmer in favor of Matt Flynn, it further tweaked the offensive system to add throws more safe throws suitable for Flynn. Eventually, Pryor's package of plays had to be expanded into something the Raiders could use for an entire game.

"Certainly there was a sense of urgency when he did take over as the starting quarterback," Olson said. "We just wanted to make sure we had enough things that he could execute and expand his strengths as a player. Really, he has grown."

Olson has also dealt with offensive line issues that included the loss of left tackle Jared Veldheer for at least half the season, the insertion of Tony Pashos at right tackle after a week of practice and switching Khalif Barnes to the left side after Menelik Watson had arthroscopic knee surgery.

This week, Andre Gurode will start at left guard in place of Lucas Nix, who has an ankle injury. Through two games, a 21-17 loss to Indianapolis and a 19-9 win over Jacksonville, the Raiders are second in the NFL with 195.8 yards per game while still developing their passing game with precious little experience at wide receiver and tight end.

"(Denver) has the best front seven we've played this season," Olson said. "It will present a tremendous challenge."

Marquette King will be the holder on place kicks for Sebastian Janikowski, Allen said. Matt Flynn worked as a holder this week in practice and Allen said he is seeking improvement in that area.
Safety Tyvon Branch (ankle), tackle Menelik Watson (knee) and tight end David Ausberry (shoulder) did not practice and were ruled out against Denver. Nix is questionable, and Allen said it will be a game-time decision whether he backs up Gurode. Antoine McClain, inactive for the first two games, is in line to be the backup guard if Nix is not available.
