Former NFL wide receiver Davone Bess barricaded himself inside his house for hours before he was taken into custody in Arizona early Monday morning.
Bess was arrested around 4:45 a.m. Monday morning, about five hours after he was pulled over on a traffic violation by police in Gilbert, Ariz., according to The Arizona Republic. Bess sped off and holed up in his house before police obtained a warrant that allowed Gilbert Police Department’s SWAT team to enter the home and apprehend Bess.

The Arizona Republic reported Bess was arrested for endangerment, felony flight and failure to stop for a police officer --- all felonies.

A message left for with Gilbert police by USA TODAY Sports was was not immediately returned.

Bess’ NFL career came to an abrupt end after he played one season with the Cleveland Browns in 2013.

He missed two games for personal reasons that season and Bess appeared to post a photo of a box filled with marijuana on Twitter in January 2014. That same month he tweeted that photo, Bess was arrested after an altercation sheriff’s deputy at the Miami International Airport.

Bess, 30, attended the University of Hawaii and played his first five NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins.
