Da Bears Thread

Not much happening right now in Chicago but Greg Olsen is going to be traded, which was a bit expected since he doesn't really fit the Mike Martz offense.

Whoever gets him could have a great TE, I don't think he really ever lived up to his full potential.

His agent Drew Rosenhaus sent a mass email to the league's general managers and personnel people at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday night announcing the Bears were making Olsen available for trade. The email went to scores of people, including Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and contract negotiator Cliff Stein.

"The Bears have granted me permission to seek a trade for Greg Olsen," Rosenhaus wrote. "Please let me know if interested. Sounds like the Bears will be very reasonable on the compensation in return for Greg."

Wow man, I like Mike Martz and his offense, but Greg Olsen played great. He bailed out Cutler plenty of times... I don't know about this move.... and why aren't the Bears going after Plax? Cutler needs a big time possession receiver.

BEAR DOWN!

Is Matt Spaeth our only signing?

Wish they would go after a WR like Edwards, Houshmandzadeh, Steve Smith or Holmes (when he was available) I like Knox, I just don't like Hester as a #2 WR.

Bears also got rid of veteran punter Brad Maynard.

I like Greg Olsen too but the problem with him is he wasn't a good blocker, and Mike Martz like's TE's who can block. So he didn't fit the new offense very well.

But yeah, they NEED to a sign a WR.

They are like 38 million under the cap so they have plenty of room to make some deals.

I know he's a punter and all, but this guy was an awesome punter. That was a huge part of their success always winning the field advantage. Pin opponents low while our kick returners would always get positive yards.

Man, this new faggot kickoff rule pisses me off btw.

Yea, Maynard was one of the best directional punters in the game.

2-0-Sixx, Who would you like to see the bears sign?

Honestly I don't know who's available right now, I'd like to see a list of Free Agents, etc.

They NEED to work on their offensive line badly, especially if Olin Kreutz is going to the 49ers. 52 sacks or some shit last season. And they need a real WR. Those are the two priorities right now imo. They need to give Cutler some time in the pocket for a change and give him a reliable WR.

The Bears traded former first-round draft pick Greg Olsen to the Carolina Panthers for a player (not Steve Smith, according to a league source) and a draft pick, just one of three moves the team made at the position today. The specific compensation is not yet known.

Bears last season was a fluke. Won some close ones, got some calls and bail outs from the defense. Cutler is a bitch, Roy Williams has weak ass hands, and the O line don't protect well. Detroit will sack that trick at least 5 times this season. They won't do shit. It' will be Packers and Lions fighting for the division.

People wanna sleep on Detroit, but they have a great staff and some young talent in place. Don't be surprised if they make the playoffs.

Former Cowboys WR Williams appears headed to the Bears

One day after being cut by the Dallas Cowboys, wide receiver Roy Williams has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported Friday, citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

In Chicago, Williams will be reunited with offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who was the Lions coordinator when Williams enjoyed his best years in Detroit.
