Is there something wrong with your brain honestly? Learning disabilities, anything like that? Buddy Ryan was no longer on the team. He was obviously what led that 85 Bears defense, he invented the scheme (the 46). The defense didn't carry him after the superbowl for nothing (they felt he was the real coach).

Bill Walsh on the 46 Defense:
I had to use every bit of knowledge and experience and wisdom I had to come up with game plans to attack this defense. It's really the most singular innovation in defensive football in the last twenty years.

Not that I like the pats, fuck them. But you don't see them making excuses for losing coordinators or players to injury. If they don't use excuses, making one for the bears means shit.
Did they win a superbowl with a back-up QB? lol how is not having your starting QB not a valid reason.

The thread is about the greatest team ever. Not the greatest dynasty.

I strongly believe that this Era of football is more talented and better coached. The technology is more advanced and helped teams prepare more than ever before.

The athletes are bigger, faster, and stronger than ever before. With that said, a lot of teams from 2000-present are the best ever. The Rams with Warner, Pats with Brady, Raven with Lewis, The Seahawks with Wilson, etc.

2014 pats shitted on the so called "best defense ever" lol
Seahawks defense isn't as good as it was last year. A lot of players left the team in the off season. Last year there was a solid pash rush, this year not so much. LOB were all injured too, Lane broke his wrist early, Kam, Sherm and Thomas all played through significant injuries that require surgery.

89 niners would smash the 85 bears, how can you call a team that lacks so much offensivly the goat.

One thing is for sure brehs... back then you had a torn acl/mcl or any ligament, you were probably done forever. Now, we got dudes coming back late in the same season if they tore it early on.

So this means, sometimes the best players were not out there... now we see the best players come back.

But now we have the whole protocol for concussions which is then a toss up.

Back then you could play football. Back then it wasn't roughing the passer for barely touching the QB. You could hit a guy going over the middle, leading with your helmet and knock the WR the fuck out without a 15 yard automatic first down. Back then if a QB threw a lazy pass over the middle for his receiver only to get laid out by a close line, the QB would be in deep shit from his coaches and teammates, not rewarded for drawing a PI call or a personal foul. So it most certainly goes both ways. Yes the game has evolved and the schemes are complex, but the sport has been pussified immensely. You take an 85 Bears or 70's Steelers team and they'd all be ejected within minutes in today's game. And you put a current team back then and WRs are going to get broke in half and QBs annihilated.

I think it's funny that people think it's better to go 4-0 in the Superbowl with early round exits than to go 4-2 in the Superbowl.
That's all I heard on here from all the 49ers fans when the Steelers won their 6th ring. "Oh but the Steelers are 6-1 in Super Bowls. 9ers are 5-0".

That talk all ended in 2012.

who's been better than gannon? ken dorsey?
The 2001 raider's where not even good, the worst of there 3 year run, Gannon had the worst super bowl game of all time, couldnt score more then 13 points the previous year, and couldnt finish the game the year before that, gannon is fucking garbage, kaep kills him, and has had more play off success, only like 10 years earlier in his career.
