When you use the layer mask.You have 2 options.Black & White....When you want a pic to fade up from the bottom.You grab the gradient tool and start from the point where you want to fade and it works like magic......A layer mask is also perfect for takin a person out of the background........You know those little pieces of the person hair that you wish you can add.Well.A layer mask goes under the hair and lift it from the b-ground...
